Is it possible to port a landline distinctive ring number to a VZW phone?

Is it possible to port a landline distinctive ring number
    to a VZW phone?

    Example:

    Landline phone carrier is Verizon.
    Home phone number is 212-555-1111
Distinctive ring number is 212-555-2222 (double-ring)

Can I call Verizon Wireless and have them port the distinctive
number, 212-555-2222, to my VZW cell phone?

If distinctive ring number cannot be ported, I guess I can
always do it the hard way. I'll probably have to use the
distinctive number and switch it into a real second landline
phone number. ...then I can port it to a cell phone.

    Any advice appreciated!

P.S. the only reason I want to do it is that my distinctive
number is a very unique number, (xxx)xx7-7777. I got
a couple of years ago when I saw it on Verizon's website,
but I rarely use it... figured I might as well make it one
    of my cell phone numbers?

if its a regular generally issued phone number than i cant see why not. ask verizon to check the number. dont tell them what it is, you will just confuse them with useless information. just ask them to do an LNP validation check to see if it can be ported

thanks! that's exactly what I'll tell VZW. it's never a good
idea to supply them with too much info... they get so, so
confused. I'll just say it's my regular home number... if
it works, great! If not, I'll just have to it the hard way,
    like I described.

    up as eligible....

The distinctive ring is a feature that was set up with your Verizon landline service. If you can port that number with the distinctive ring, you can do that, but there's no way the distinctive ring will go too, its just the number porting over.

its just a second line that you pay extra for with your landline service. I ahve never done it but on paper it shouldn't be an issue. Of course you will not get the distinctive ring, I think you know that

Sux....I re-read the O.P. and I guess I didn't read it close enough the first time. Since its a Verizon landline number, I see no reason why it can't port out.

You cannot port a distinctive ring number. I have been through this headache once before. Make it a regular 2nd line and things should be fine.
