I too would like to figure this out. I received my phone yesterday and to my disappointment was unable to set any mp3 as a ringtone. I have been able to explore my filesystem of the phone, but haven't the first clue where to put the mp3s so I can use then for ringers
Bumping this because I would like to know how to do this![]()

when you plug the USB cord in and go to my media in your files, unhide all folders and you`ll see a RINGTUNES folder. put your mp3 files in there and you can set them as ringtones. how do you guys get custom wallpapers? i add them to photos and it says list empty, and if i put them in others it won't work also. and bit pim and contents bank for lg sucks. help?
Ok so that doesn't work Ronaldofan02, because of the locked folders on this darn phone..
ok so far, i'm pretty close, i figured out how to get files on and off of the LG800 from Solo Mobile, only problem is that the filesystem is diffferent from all the others to get the ringtones on a lg800 from verizon there is a Directory on the filesystem called brew/16452/lk/mr drop files in there and presto! your got your ringtones BUT not the case for the Solo moble lg800, it has the BREW directory and alot of the directories inside are hidden, i dont know which directory is the right one.. AND what file format the ringtones have to be it.. anyone shed some light on the SOLO mobile file system???
I think if this works, the mp3 must follow certain criteria in it's encoding. I use generally 3gp converter to convert all mine to lower quality and it works fine on my phones that way better than other methods, but i use a sanyo phone so it's different. i dunno for this one, but might wanna try searching the mp3 audio specs on it first.Originally Posted by ronaldofan02

I already regret I buy this phone
OK, someone knows how to do this.
What folder using bitpim do you drop your mp3s for ringtones? It must be one of them under the BREW folder.
OK it was a real pain getting ring tones onto my phone as I did not want to pay ridiculous prices to bell what a scam. So try and follow along on my journey getting it to work sorta. First you need to download Bitpim and install. Now this utility does not have this particular phone listed so you need to chose 'other phone'. when you plug in your phone with the usb cable and select media storage under tools on the phone the BitPim program will not put any of the files in the right spot so you have to go to file system. this will show you all the files on the phone. you will want to go to 'brew' there is then numbered folders. In folder number 24 I found a m4a file (called 24.m4a) and saved it to my computer I then converted a mp3 (of 20 seconds or less) to the m4a format renamed it 24.m4a and right clicked in the 24 folder (in BitPim) and selected new. I picked the modified 24.m4a file. this over wrote that file. Now my ring tone is the new one but it is still named by the old name. IE my original default ringtone was magic carpet ride and I overwrote it with a old phone ringing so now it still says it is magic carpet ride but it plays the old phone ringing file.
Easy as that. phew.
I am looking in to how to change the name. I also think you have to have a existing ring tone for this to work and the folder may be different on your phone.
Oh by the way I located an alternate ringtone in folder 20 and the wallpaper was in folder 21 called 21.jpg

LG = Lifes Good????? I think not. I should have looked further into the purchase of an LG800 for my wife last year. I just spent hours figuring out how to get a dozen pictures off the phone before letting it go to another poor user. I needed to use the options above with bitpim and make sure you select View Filesystem in Bitpim under the view menu. Bitpim does not recognize the phone and there is no compatible phone so you have to manually navigate the filesystem of the phone through Bitpim.
Why do these companies (Bell and LG) conspire to so frustrate the consumer? I have many phone choices and LG will never be another. Soon we will have many more telco choices too. I just don't get how they see this in their interest.
