I'm absolutely blown away by the news that the i760 has somehow "failed user testing". One of the mods on PDAPhoneHome was actually a tester, and he didn't mention a thing about it failing testing, and on the contrary thought we wouldn't have to wait long.
Now, we've seen actual pictures of the i760 running WM6 as far back as February. Someone really needs to explain to me how they managed to take at least 4 months to test, and at the end of this time decide it had failed user testing. The only delay I had ever heard that seemed to have merit concerned problems with Vista, and that VZW didn't want to be flooded with complaints about syncing.
Anyway, enough of a rant from me. But I do think that the huge delay in this device (and the 6800) are going to drive me to Sprint. And I wish that Verizon understood that there are a decent number of people like me that would like to use Verizon, but they leave us with almost no choice.
Yeah well maybe the iphone is junk and just another apple money maker but atleast they are organized and consistent. I just dont get why samsung cant announce a date and allow the people who really want the i760 to be satisfied with a certain date and not keep saying this date... no this date.
I've never understood this "testing" that VZW does for months on end, delaying already obsolete phones until they are laughably out of date. Bill Gates had a fully functioning 700w 5 MONTHS
I've never understood this "testing" that VZW does for months on end, delaying already obsolete phones until they are laughably out of date. An example that hits home for me:
Bill Gates had a fully functioning 700w 5 MONTHS before the official VZW release and look what a monumental piece of crap that turned out to be. How could 5+ months worth of testing result in a phone that needs to be reset countless times a day due to something as simple as a lack of RAM, a problem even a novice designer could have seen a mile away. WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR SO LONG VERIZON!?!?!
Don't worry...I'm sure "testing" will be complete and the device ready for launch just as soon as we see the next crop of PDAs leaked.
Seriously, WTF is up with VZW? We've been tracking this phone since, what, December? What kind of timeline do these people have?? I remember when the Q was first rumored, then specced, then pics surfaced. At that time, it was a pretty cool device. But by the time they finally released it, it was old junk (and still is crap). Why can't they move these phones along a little faster? I hope to God that, if nothing else, the iPhone forces some innovation and quickness on these lazy bastards.
They do know. They just don't care. We are but a small percentage of their overall subscribers. I would guess though that we have more expensive plans.

Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. -- Daniel Webster
verizon needs some new marketing people. If they only knew how much we wanted this phone.
I don't think they are concerned about marketing this phone, or any other pda phone because most of their subscribers are "plain" phone people. I saw a new sprint commercial last night and there was no mention of the Mogul. Maybe because it hasn't been launched in stores yet, but I seriously doubt that it will get much love from the advertisers. You are more likely to hear about a new razr or other "fancy phone"

Sprint's advertising is undergoing some, ahem, retooling, so that it, uh, works. But the smartphone market is smaller than the general cellphone market and may not be the best use of advertising dollars.
