The iPhone is no competition for the i760. The iPhone is targeted toward yupsters and their spoiled kids who just want people to stare at them for the first two weeks it comes out. After that it will be old news and people will just have a $500 toy that will have loads of bugs, slow internet browsing, and crappy battery life. Nobody cares about the video iPod (I live in Chicago and i think I've seen 3 people actually watching videos on it since it came out) so Apple needs to market this to regain its cool factor they have lost to Motorola and Samsung.
For people who actually use these phones for business the i760 is in a class by itself. I am just worried that I wouldn't like the slider keyboard. I have a 700w now (sick of it) and am considering this. I think I will wait for the Rev A phones and the first service pack of WM6 before I switch. I had enough early adopter BS with the 700w considering i got it the day it came out.
First of all I think you are getting away from the topic at hand. You dont need to insult people who are looking forward to the iPhone, or even the iPhone itself. It is going to be an innovative product that will be great for the cell phone market, especially for consumers.
As for Windows Mobile, the crowd who already use it will continue to because they know what it does. The WinMo people tend to use their phones more for business, and need the full QWERTY (vs. the on-screen) and mobile office applications. These people obviously wont be able to lose those features to switch to the iPhone, so you are apparently one of those people. And for the record, I use my video iPod all the time for watching tv shows on long car trips, during breaks between classes or on the train.
The i760 looks to be an awesome handset, and I am really anticipating its release. Its going to be interesting to see which of the two WinMo phones set to be released in june (i760 and xv6800) will be better.

You read my mind! Got mine in January of last year. I should have stuck with my good old E815! Looking forward to this one though I might wait until the initial reviews are in.

How about we wait until it comes out before we bash.....or praise it or call it innovative? This is the most hyped consumer product I have ever seen and it is getting beyond ridiculous.
How about we STOP talking about the stupid iphone all together. It would make sense as this IS a verizon forum specifically geared towards VERIZON pda's. I don't care if the iphone was even comparable to i760 - it's presence doesn't belong here. It belongs on some general sub forum where everything goes.
I am so sick of checking here for updates on the I760 just to be disappointed with more pathetic BS about other worthless phones and worthless operating systems that the I760 will never have.
Tre-i-e-i-o.. is right the I-phone is crap their is no 3g support people have already spent 3-5 hundred on ipods the phone is just another try at a publicity stunt.. working in cell phones for three years every phone that itunes have teamed up with was not that big of a hit. Maybe the third and fourth generation of the phones apples lauches will be worth it
As usual I am unable to vouch for the credibility of this information but I always try to pass on what I find in the event there may be some truth to it.
That being said, below I've attached a link w/some talk about a late May release for the I760. Additionally, within the link there is another link containing more specific information. Let's all hope for the best.
oh how sweet that would be, atleast the link to the post has information that could be correct if this "ethan" really does know the truth, then him saying that they are waiting for the i730 to be depleated will make sence
ive been out of contract since jan waiting for this and the 6800 to come out
i emailed vzw about wm6 devices and got this in reply...this is an exeprt
"There are several wireless phones being tested for functionality and reliability with our network. Verizon Wireless will not offer a product or service unless it meets the high standards our customers have come to expect. Verizon Wireless is constantly improving the services, features, and wireless phones we offer to our customers for their communication needs."
I went into my local VZW Corp. store and spoke to two different people about both the i760 and xv6800. The rep told me they will be getting full information on the handsets soon which means they could be slated for a late may to early june release. I would say this is good news, as I have waited this long so it wont be too much longer.
June 12th is the "official" - I'm thinking it wont be out then - for the i760. The phone will run wm6 and all the goodness.
I'm still waiting to see if the phone WILL be Rev.A compatible, which hasn't really been talked about or confirmed. I have the 700wx now and it does what I want it to do (upgraded from the lock-up-every-second-700w), but I'm looking for a slimmer phone. I use the 700wx as my internet provider at home & with my carputer so having the Rev.A is a must for me.
Also wish it used regular sized SD cards (have 10gb worth of cards) instead of microSD.
How would you (the original poster or anyone else that has handled the phone) compare the size of the i760 to the 700wx or 700w?? Specifically the thickness? If its half the size of the treo, I'd be in "love". Comparable in thickness to the BB Pearl (wishful thinking)?
I went to Verizon's site today and noticed that the I-730 was out of stock completely. No more buy one get one deal either. Anyone think this will speed up the release date to May?
