Seriously people, whether he got it or not is not the point. The fact that Verizon still has us waiting for these new PDA's to drop is ridiculous. Something needs to be done about it, and I suggest that if you are at the end of your contract you take a look at Sprint or ATT and give them a "test drive". Maybe service will be similar and you will have a brand new, top of the line PDA with the freshest technology. I know if I was at the end of my contract I would definitely be testing the waters to see what reception is like with other carriers.
Check them out. I have a feeling many of you will try something else and never look back. Maybe then SOMEONE at Verizon will pull their head out of their *** and smell the roses, because I cant stand this waiting anymore and they need to know it wont be tolerated.
I am going to post this in both threads, assuming everyone knows which two I mean. I just returned from a VZW Store leaving them with my 4th Q for an hour so they can evaluate the issues I have been having and when I spoke with the rep he told me that at the All Hands Meeting this morning either the 8700 or the i760 was released for them to play around with. I know this pretty much sounds like another rumor, problem is I couldn't keep him on topic with one phone or the other and I was about to smash my Q at the same time. Hopefully when I go to pick up my Q I will be able to get more information.
But as always, take what I have heard with a grain of salt.
No new information on this front. They handed me my Q back and said they did a software update. Now correct me if I am wrong but doesn't a software update clear your numbers and texts and all? Because my phone is still in the same shape as when I left it, even with the non-default background.

same thing happened 2 me, they *ONLY* said that they did this and that, but in reality they didn't do squat...
i would switch in a heart beat but my job pays 4 my phone(bill) so i can't complain that much, i guess...
If I paid for my contract, I would be gone.
I don't necessarily need a Pocket PC or even a Smartphone. And I like the idea of Verizon's new premium plan, which is like having smartphone features on a regular phone. But due to Verizon's choice to put their software on EVERY regular phone they have, I'm sticking with PDAs.
The i760 is the only decently looking PDA device that I'm willing to look at, and we've been waiting forever for it.
What aggravates me most is that VZW doesn't seem to compete. I thought that after the iPhone, they would at least show SOME signs that they even care to compete, but nothing so far. I know most everyone dislikes the iPhone, but the idea of a non-smartphone device with full email, internet browsing, and video features is very appealing. And though Verizon has competitive plans, the phone selection is where I'm lost.
I'd be surprised if the i760 ever gets released; or if it does it'll be at a lower price because of the outdated technology. IMO, Verizon can shove their i760. Sprint, here I come!

That's my "problem" too...my phone bill is free thanks to work, so I'm stuck with VZW. Otherwise, I would have had an iPhone for 3 weeks now. But you can't beat free.
Broadcom and Verizon Wireless Enter into Licensing Agreement Allowing Verizon Wireless to Offer Cell Phones Banned by ITC; Companies Announce Broad-based Strategic Alliance

Verizon Wireless ceases efforts to overturn ITC ban on Qualcomm products
IRVINE, Calif. and NEW YORK, July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM - News) and Verizon Wireless, an affiliate of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ - News), today announced a licensing agreement that permits the continued importation and sale by Verizon Wireless of mobile devices that are the subject of the current litigation between Broadcom and Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM - News) before the U.S. International Trade Commission.
The agreement allows Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless provider in the country by revenue, to sell new handsets and other wireless devices, ensuring the availability of the latest cell phone technology in handsets and personal digital assistants (PDAs) to consumers and businesses.
Under the agreement, Verizon Wireless will make payments to Broadcom at a rate of $6.00 for each 1xEV-DO handset, PDA or data card sold after the effective date, subject to a maximum payment of $40 million per calendar quarter and a lifetime maximum payment of $200 million. The agreement provides Verizon a license to the six Broadcom patents currently being litigated between Broadcom and Qualcomm. Other terms and conditions of the agreement are confidential.
As a result of the agreement, Verizon Wireless will also cease its efforts to overturn the ITC's recent order banning Qualcomm chips and certain cell phones based on those chips from importation, and will withdraw Verizon Wireless's motion to stay that same ITC remedy previously filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
"We are pleased to have worked out an agreement with Broadcom to ensure continued delivery of new and innovative products to our customers," said Lowell C. McAdam, President and Chief Executive Officer of Verizon Wireless. "A market-based solution, like the one our two companies have announced today, is the most effective way to resolve these kinds of intellectual property issues."

Well, I guess that clears out the rumor of the ban not including PDA's.
