I work at Best Buy (I'm young, not a loser), and I have a friend that works in wireless as our wireless expert. He's very close to and friends with the reps, especially Verizon.
He was at our local VZW store today with the rep he's most associated with and he saw live models of the i760, Libra, and xv6800 today. For him to be able to see them should mean that they're (at least 1 or 2 of them) are really close.
All hands on meeting discussed this, although I didn't know they had the Libra too...

Why don't you call and find out instead of asking here

Hey guys, I don't usually post because I don't have any information to contribute, until now.
I was in the verizon store last Thursday night for a repair on my treo 650. I talked to a guy I graduated with. Some info on the guy, so at least you have some judge on where the info is coming from. Anyone ever see the movie half baked? Yeah, that should explain him and his friends. But he's really good with computers he ended up teaching our computer classes that i had with him because he was pretty good. I saw him at the verizon store tech side and i waited for him to be free so i could have him fix my phone and so i could bring up the i760.
I asked him about the i760, libra, and xv6800. He said the i760 was until mid august. He actually gave me specifics, the delay in the phone is because of verizons add on software that they installed in addition to windows. So he thinks it will be out some time in August but more end of August early September, all this according to his manager.
(Can anyone confirm any of this add on software that he might be talking about?)
I then asked him about the libra, to which he replied," not anytime soon, and not even after that. " I asked why and he said he didn't know.
xv6800 in case anyone is interested. He thinks that it will be released before the i760 because he already received some information about it. And hasn't heard anything official about the i760 other than his manager.
I know before you all start criticizing, i know where the information is coming from, a tech with some serious smoking problems. Plus I don't know how long the guy as worked there either. So i'll admit to the source not being the most likely reliable and knowledgeable. So take this information with a lot of salt. But if the smokers right, then I'll be breaking my phone more often.
I'm still wondering about that verizon add on software. Anyone?
The add-on software is the new version of Get-it-Now for WM6 devices Verizon is working on. Looks like the i760 will be the first phone to sport it.
How long do you think it will take me to uninstall the bloatware?
In all seriousness, Get-it-Now will be nice to have on a PDA phone. I simply never use that service in the first place to care if it comes with it or not.
Well, that's the nature of this thread....rumors....no matter the source. Thanks for the info.

It was just distro'ed on the 8830? and 700wx. This is if you are referring to VZW's new app zone service...
Edit: It will be officially released on the 24th (tomorrow) on the 700wx and the Q, Not on the 8830, but is currently available for download via your pda at http://ota.getvzappzone.com. The download and install process will take about 20 minutes. If If you try this currently on a phone other than the 700wx or the Q it will not recognize your phone and give you an error!
i swung by my local VZW for a friend who was signing up from sprint and asked the guy who has been my rep for years and who i go back to everytime... he didnt say to much but said that they recieved a car charger for the i-760 and have it in the back...thats all he knew but suspects that it would be close to launch or why else would they tie up inventory space
I talked to my business rep last week and asked him about the i760. He claims it has not passed VZW network testing yet which, in my opinion, either...
a) ties into what others have said about the get it now software not being done yet, or
b) is a sham because of the whole qualcomm embargo that I keep hearing about.
note b is a theory only I am not spreading misinformation, don't jump down my throat.
I did the same...We'll see if they care enough...Keeping my fingers crossed.
could you give me the e-mail addy? i've had my eye on this one for a while too, and it's annoying as hell that nothing has come out. they made the deal with broadcomm so let's get it over with. forget Get it Now, you can't wait to put that in a firmware update or something? of course we have to wait for Get it Now when there are many more bothersome defects in phones that aren't put into account when phones are released.

I just went to their website, and clicked on "contact us." They are pretty good with responses, but we'll see if they take their time on this one...We should all write them and ask that they release some phones NOW!!!!
Oh yeah...I firmly beleive that the "thorough testing" of their products is what is holding up their phones. If they do this for all their phones, I would love to hear their explanation for the MANY problems with the TREOs.
