i just figured a branded verizon i760 would tell us how far along the i760 is to be released. it's like saying it's THE final product or something. understand my logic?
Logically that'd make sense, but not in the cell phone industry unfortunately.
If you look at the i760 as it really is "a 2006 device" the AT&T 8525 beats it and it's available now!! Before you jump on me, compare the specs http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomp...d1=696&id2=588. The 8525 has a slight edge over the i760, not to mention a ton of support and WM6 ROMs everywhere on the Internet. I'm going with AT&T now, no need to wait for the Kaiser. Verizon is a day late and a dollar short.
Man I hate these trolls. We need a mod to delete crap like this.
Do you think that ppl in these forums are just a bunch of sheep that can't make a decision without your gold nuggets of advice? Seriously, get a life. People are in these forums because they ARE the very well informed segment of the consumer base. We all are well aware of the specs on the i760 vs other phones. It's been discussed ad nauseaum.
If people on these forums get tired of waiting, they will go look into other carriers just like you did. They don't need your stupid off-topic posts to tell them to do so. Those that are waiting have a reason that they have deemed good enough to keep them waiting until this point. For example, AT&T coverage sucks for a lot of people. Or in my case, my Verizon account is a corporate account paid for by my company.
Please people, if you just can't hold it in, go vomit your worthless OT trash in the forum of your new provider. Thank you.
"Ethan" reported that we should get some information next week from Verizon, and said that would should have them in our hands before Aug. 23 provided it all moves forward as planned.

I'm hoping that it's believable, but I'm starting to believe that store reps won't likely see anything about a release date until maybe a week before it's available. (They do have to release SOME sort of training on them in order to allow us to sell them, right?) I have no idea why they're being so secretive about these particular release dates... grr.

slightly off topic, but does anyone know whether the slide out keyboard for the i760 will be spring loaded or not?
It is funny, because that is the exact correct type of question that should be asked in this thread but people feel it might be off-topic because this thread has gotten so off topic.

And yes, the keyboard will be spring loaded.
haha yay!!! only reason i asked is because i'm trying to debate whether i should get the i760 or the xv6800. i like the fact that the i760 has stereo speakers and number dials up front. small details like that makes it better in my opinion. however the size of ROM or RAM or whatever it is kinda bugs me. I wonder if the xv6800 will outperforms it.
I too am on the fence about whether to get the i760 or the xv6800.
I have a 6700 and like the fact that they use a mini USB to sync and charge. ALL PDA/phones should do this. Looks like the i760 uses a proprietary connector, thus adding to the total cost. Not a biggie, though.
I DO like the keypad on the front of the 760. My previous device was a Treo, and I like the one-handed functionality. I assume we will be able to look up contacts with the keypad, using T9 texting like the on-screen dialers we have now.

i too like the idea of having the mini usb port to charge and sync. i agree the keypad on the front will offer easier one handed functionality. but can't you do the same with a device like the xv6800? the "number pad" shows up on the touchscreen so in a way, u could use one hand functionality with the touchscreen. it won't be the same though i guess.

when I was talking about the store reps who want the phone I was referring to those like myself. not making any assumptions about ethan. I'm being hopeful but trying to not be too excited until I see it in infomanager or internal training. that's all =)
