Just an update for people out there. I am out in Denver Colorado for the CEDIA expo. I stopped into the VZW store and they have a dummy version of the phone. If anyone lives in the area they can check it out. The guy that showed it to me said a month but he did not seem that informed.
I was supposed to go to CEDIA tomorrow, but with Bronchitis, an oxygen tank, and coughing up blood I had second thoughts...

that sounds great, did anyone else see this at CEDIA?
My next question is more about mobile IE. Some of the industry websites I use require IE 6 or better. And they don't play, no Netscape, Opera, Firefox, Safari, nothing. Now, it could change the way I do business if Mobile IE could pull the sites for me, and I understand that it now have javasupport and some other new features. Any idea on if Mobile IE would work for sites such as this, and if not, is there a hack to get around it? Maybe trick the browser check?
Search the PDAs & Data Aircards forum. I seem to recall a post reguarding this problem. If I remember right there is a way to a way to use a different browser but make the os think that it is IE. That was on WM5 I'm dont know if the same hack will work with WM6. Sorry I don't remember the deatails.
Back to the topic at hand.
Feel for all of you that have been waiting and waitng for this phone. I guess it is a little easier for me since my NE2 is not up untill the middle od Oct. Man I hope it out by then.
I've been researching this phone along with the XV6800 and the SMT5800 for quite a while. I'm just ready for ONE of them to get here! It's killin' me. I've been on my Treo 700W for a while now, and although it's a good PDA and reliable device, it's radio reception is horrible. I'm the the back woods of NC, with spotty cell reception anyway, and the Treo is one of the worst phones for radio performance I have used, although I keep using it because it's a solid device. I'm just hoping one of these new devices will come out and step up the game a bit! Anyway, these were my thoughts as I just finished browsing the Verizon site to see that they are still not there. Oh... the pain continues!
I had given up on this phone and decided to get an iPod Touch for my PDA/mobile internet & media needs, and just upgrade my A990 to a RAZR2 and call it a day... Now it looks like Apple is crippling the iPod Touch's PDA ability...
I'm about to give up and just get a used treo off of ebay.... :/ Come on Verizon, put me out of my misery. Release... something with WM 6 and wifi, please....

I'm actually considering doing the same thing. I'm not too worried about what the touch doesn't have because both the touch and iphone seem to be running the same software. it seems it shouldn't be too hard to import apps from the iphone to the touch.

yeah but its just so much nicer if the support is native. But it seem all the manufacturers are removing functionality and closing devices... very lame.
I made the jump. I cant believe it after waiting so long for this phone . I went and bought an iPhone.
And I love it. I dont know what to say I was very against it but the $200 price drop was the last nail in the coffin for verizon and I couldnt be happier.
I hope this phone get release for you guys soon. I know I will be one of the first ones in the store playing with this badboy when its release to see what I missed out on.
