I am striking out as well, have called 4 times last night and 3 times so far today. Everyone says it is not in their system to order yet, even if I do give them the SKU number. Do you think all these other "so called orders" are bogus and a few are trying to rev up the forum and get everyone excited??
PDAPhoneHome server is so busy it is shut down right now!!
What do you think?
I did get a rep who is wanting this phone as well tell me that it will be released on the 24th.

I'm usually skeptical too but people have posted pics of their boxes and one poster has put up pictures and a youtube video of his I760. I'm somewhat convinced that its legit.
I tried 4 times. No luck. Even one of the CSR was waiting for the phone (for himself) and he has not seen it. They do find the SKU in the system however it does show any inventory or price.
im sure the folks at Verizon have probably caught on and have issues a company wide email or memo stating not to allow this to happen specially the genius who decided to send this information over to Engadget gave this situation to much press.

Same thing here. just called and it was found using the SKU but no pricing or the ability to order. My CS rep called the "data supervisor" and he said it will be released on the 24th and those orders that are in processing will be cancelled because it should not have been available on the system until the 24th. The level 2 CS supervisor stated the same thing. Looks like they caught on.
the regional b2b rep who allowed the first phone to slip through iwll probably get in a good amount of trouble. but hey more time to wait and like another posteer said I am waiting for some review everything looks good its the brains behind it that matters...
Yes, I just tried, and no luck. After about 10 minutes of explaining to the rep how to enter the SKU, he was able to find the i760 though, so it is available for ordering in South Carolina. Still holding out for my 6800 though, since I need the IR for work.
I'm not so sure. The first CSR I got was polite, but refused to pull the SKU. The second one said he didn't find the SKU, but then put me on hold to ask some questions. At that point, he came back on, ready to sell some equipment, and had pricing, plan options, insurance, the works. I don't think it's a top down issue where the CSR's are being told not to sell them. I think this is a true bottom up deal where the customers have gotten the jump on managment and the CSR's don't know any better than to fill the orders. They haven't been told anything either way--that's why they don't know about the equipment till you give them the SKU. If managment were telling them not to sell it, you'd get shot down from the term "i760". And you know if they wanted to they could simply turn off the CSR's ability to sell the unit. My advice is this:
1)Start by asking for the i760 by name as to not seem pretencious
2)When they don't see it, tell them a co-worker has ordered it over the phone, already gotten the equipment, and has given you the SKU.
3)If they don't want to do it, don't be rude, just be firm. "I understand that it's not in your system, but I can see the equipment in the next office. Please try again."
4)If all else fails, "hang up and try your call again"
It took me two shots to get'r done, but like I said, I've been billed not only for the equipment, but also overnight guaranteed tommorow. Man I am so pumped. I had given up thinking after it didn't come out on the 10th that I would be waiting till the 24th. Thanks to all those that got this info, primarily the SKU's,on the boards. Talk about delayed gratification!
I just called to try and order it. I dialed 611. The rep found it in the system and was able to pull 2 yr contract pricing up for me. ($399) I was just about to go through the order process when she told me to wait a minute and put me on hold. She came back on the line and said that while the phone showed in her system and in stock she is not allowed to sell it yet because it is not released. She thought it would be released sometime around Novemeber.
I think it all depends on who you get. I got a smart CSR who was trying to cover all her bases to keep from doign the wrong (or right based on perspective) thing. If you get someone that does not care about the details then it will probably go through.
They see the phone in the system but are unable to order. I was told that she did not even see pricing. She said to keep calling back, but since it's in the system, hopefully in the next few weeks. I was her second call on this phone in the last few minutes.
She was asking for a # of someone who had the phone so she could "see how they ordered it" Anyone who ordered it wanna give me your phone number
