I'm not sure about the i760, but I do know that they could have released the xv 6800 at any time because they had imported a final production model prior to the ban (don't have a link because i'm posting on my ps3). The ban pretty much stopped verizon from releaseing or importing anything, and most of verizons phones are based on EVDO, so they didn't really have an option.

Edit: The Mogul was released ater the ban so that could confirm my post, but still posting via ps3 so no link,sry...
A phone's no good unless you can get a signal...

    The ban specifically "excludes" smartphones.
No effect on what we are discussing.

The actual text stated smartphones were not included.
    Not just rumor.
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. -- Daniel Webster

Hey, I don't know what to believe. First I hear the ban doesn't effect PDAs, then I read this and it makes a pretty good case that it does. It's an official press release...but then again I know how semantics like to take a role in marketing.

Bottom line...even for VZW, the 6800 and i760 have been "in testing" way too long. At the very least, it's a scapegoat for the bois.

The REQUEST excluded smartphones, but the final judgement included them. Read the judgement.

But I thought it had been concluded that since the xv6800 aka Titan aka Tytyn had already been imported that it would not be affected by the ban?

It was imported before the ban, based on the fact that Sprint has it...

I don't think it's against my nda to say that we got a couple of car chargers for this phone in (they're different from the charger for the i730, which I didn't expect). I'll have to wait probably a month after the rest of you folks to get my own, but then again I'll be able to play with it if the stores get it before release date, whenever that is.

Crossing my fingers that we get the actual devices soon... Why give us chargers for a phone we can't sell?

That is some of the best news I have heard in a while. Since the charger does not fit any other model, and they sent some of the chargers into the store for sale, this must mean that the i760 is close to being released! *knocks on wood*

Keep your fingers crossed! I have to go into the VZW store today to pick up my phone that has been malfunctioning, so I will see if they have had anything similar happen to them...

I currently don't have a smart phone. I have a (less than one year old) Dell x51v with ALL the accessories (8GB Compact Flash, 2GB SD Card, GPS, Brando Screen Protector, tons of software, Krusell Leather Case and car chargers for GPS and x51v). All of which cost me over $800!!

I would like to get all three devices I carry for business down to one, maybe two. The HTC P4550 Kaiser seems to be what I need but theres something about the i760 that keeps me waiting for it. I think it looks great with the external keypad and the black casing. I love my x51v but it is not a phone and I plan on selling it.

The delay of the i760 and vx6800 is of some concern to me because of the upcoming devices on other carriers that have built-in GPS and VGA resolution. Now to mention how Verizon cripples their phones forcing people to use their "Get in Now" business model and the poor selection of equipment. All of this has me thinking...
