I think if I can isolate the cause of the settings revert, then I can get the phone to go back onto the network again. Any ideas on what files might be causing this to happen?

P.S.: These issues never used to happen before my attempted upgrade.
    I'm not sure.
You could try flashing back to V02 or return the phone.

All the problems for me started with the V02 flash. It wouldn't let me change the MMS settings. They just kept reverting back to the original settings.

Now that I've downgraded back to V01, the settings revert is still happening.

Sheesh. I guess I'll have to take it back if I can't figure this out, but I won't be able to do that until later this month ( <--long story ).

Some other improvements are that the default memory save location settings stays thru a reboot, and you can send full sized images as a pic message (though only right after you take them).
Okay, I got my new VX9900 with V01 firmware standard.

My question is for others who have done the upgrade: Have they fixed the music player and allow you to do other things with the phone while the music is still playing in the background?

Berry, I asked that a few posts ago, and nobody replied, so I think maybe not. But here's hoping! I really want them just to fix the darn music player.

No, that is no different. That is nothing minor, and I don't expect that to ever be changed.
Only the few things that people have mentioned so far appear to be any different.

As has been posted - you need to put the phone in NV Edit mode in order to access the filesystem via BitPim. Using this method, you can access all files you could access before and do all hacks and edits you could do before.

LG Download is required to put the phone in NV Edit mode - LG Download requires the USB cable.

Yep, my situation sounds identical to your posts. Fortunately, I talked to a very cool technician. I told him what I did and asked if he could reload v01 for me, but he said they don't carry initial releases, just updated firmware versions. He messed with it that night, then kept it overnight through the morning and couldn't get it going. He gave me a new phone, which I was grateful for

After reading all the posts, it seems to me that V02 firmware breaks Bitpim for the VX9900.

Some have posted that you can still use Bitpim if you first put the phone in NV Edit mode using LG download.

Is LG download a Windows only program? If so, it seems V02 precludes Bitpim use for anyone with an alternative OS.

    hooollddd upp ...
    1) does the official verizon store have the v02 firmware upgrade ?
    2) if you upgrade to v02 ... bitpim is only accesible if you have LGDOWNLOAD + USB cable ? ... what if you have LGDOWNLOAD + bluetooth ?

I thought I read one post where someone said that their store had V02, or that they got a 9900 with V02. I could be mistaken though - but barring any complications with V02, it should be available at most stores soon.

So far, it looks like you need LG Downloand and a usb cable. You can get your phone in NV Edit mode via Bluetooth (and LG Download), but I have not seen anyone have any success getting BitPim to then work.

BUT, eno and everyone at BitPim.org have been successful in getting BitPim to put the phone into NV Edit mode, which bypasses the need for LG Download. And I assume it will also work via Bluetooth. I couldn't get my 9900 V02 to work via the newest BitPim beta and Bluetooth - I assume it will work via the cable and BitPim only (using BitPim's NV Edit ability), but I haven't actually tried it.

EDIT: here's that other post where the person got his 9900 flashed to V02 by a store:
