The reason I bought my sk3 was because the price of the data plan. I have been with sk since sk2 first came out, and I dont know about everyone else, but I have signal problems bad. Usually every single night since the SK ID came out, i lose data for several hrs, and If i dont keep checking the phone and doing wireless off/on to reset the signal, my battery drains. I now have to leave my sk2 charger at work so i can charge up there.

If the signal issue doenst improve, I will be leaving the sk3 for the Dash!

If you printed out the specs on paper of the SK3 compared with the WM5 and now WM6 platform and other Smartphones, yes, it pales.

But the intangible thing you cannot rate until you've got used to it is the speed and integration between applications. Once you've memorized a few shortcuts, it's part of you. Without a stylus, I can be in line in the grocery store and feel a text message come in, one hand take it out, read message, flip it open, pick "reply", bring other hand in for the kill, bang out a 100 char reply, thumb down to send, and have the whole thing back in my pocket in 15 seconds from the first vibrate. That was JUST NOT POSSIBLE on other devices I tried.

The rock-solid AIM client, 90% solid Yahoo Client and 75% solid MSN client (lol) are icing on the cake. (I need more AIM friends... that client is NEVER down!), plus cutting and pasting between IM/EMAIL/SMS is just sick. Someone tells me something in a text I can cut-n-paste into an active IM session in about 5 seconds. Sick.

    Integration. Key is integration.

So no, not for looks AT ALL. I don't care if it looked like a turd, I'd still use it (until I got something better).

i concur on the sidekick aim client being amazing. I have no foudn a phone that can do what a sidekick can do. i have verizon wireless now and i really dont like it that much. I would much rather have a sidekick even though it really doesnt work at my house realy at all lol. but verizon now a days isnt doing that hot in my area eithr. so idk. i hvae 18 months left and i am not paying the eft of how ever much it is and spend mad money on that and getting a sidekick 3. So i think that when my 18 months is up i am going to go to tmobile and get a sidekick # ( whatever the sidekick happens to be at that time hwo knows) prb still the sidekick 3 and id........

So you are going to get a SK3 with no service? LOL. By the time you get service at your house you will be married, have kids (maybe grandkids), and would have outgrow the SK anyways.

I'm sure the AIM client is nice, but it can't beat the kick-*** BB multi-IM JiveTalk app. Of course BB service costs a "few" bucks more ...

    PS: I don't recall you having a t700i

OOOO it def. beats the BB nasty JiveTalk. BB is for corprate users not for aim. And the sidekick is more for aim, texting, and a little internet browsing. Thats what the sidekick ownes. so tis better. HAHA. and yes i do have the SE. Remember from Linda the LU =) and the sk3 is a multitasking BEAST

I don't carry my SK for nothing and I use it everything as useful and easy to use for one price for all....

As a SK3 owner I have left i several times to find a better phone that can do what I need it to do. I have come back every time. I NEED my devices to have a great IM client, I NEED my emails to look just like they look when someone sends them to me on a computer, I NEED my device to be able to go to all the sites I want them to (I have yet to find a browser that can go to as many sites as the SK).

There are devices with MMS, Videos, better screens, but I cant find one that works as smooth (fewer lock ups), goes to as many sites with ease, and I can flip it open, send an email with a pic, go to myspace and check messages and pages, chat with 5 IM buddies, read the reply to that email while the people on the more "advanced" devices are still fumbling through the menus.

The SK has its flaws, but as far as being the most easy to use and solid IMing device, there is NO competition. I am even writing this from my kick as u read this. Try it with other devices and see how "easy" it is to do.

Here are my experiences with my SK3, which I've owned since Christmas:

    >The damn system sounds makes me feel like I'm in an arcade. I've turned them off because they're too annoying.

    >The swivel is cool, but very loud. It's a disadvantage when you're in a quiet room and/or shouldn't be using the phone at the time, but want to.

    >It is bulky.

    >The 1.3MP camera has worse quality than my VGA camera on my old A670.

    >The web browser is great. It's probably the app I use the most on it.

    >It is bulky.

    >The OS is pretty easy to use, but the Jump screen takes longer to find the app you want than other mobile operating systems. It's confusing at first, but I got the hang of it after about a day or two.

    >That girl with the purple hair on the jump screen is creepy.

    >IM client is good, but I hardly use AIM anymore. It'd be nice if SMS was threaded like the IM client.

    >SMS is quick and simple, but see above: I wish it was threaded. I also wish that when my SMS storage is full that it would automatically delete messages instead of bouncing them.

    >The keyboard is stellar for typing.

    >It has the best data plan in the business. Web, e-mail, IM, AND TEXT all for $20???

    >Dialing isn't so bad because you can select from contacts without swiveling the screen up. However, if you let someone borrow your phone to call their parents, you'll have to dial the number for them and show them where to put their ear.

    >Music player is nice, but I can never add more songs to the memory card without reformatting it and losing all my data. It could be the MS_DOS formatting with my shiny iMac, however. I also wish it supported more music file formats.

    >If you're pooped, fall asleep with the lights on, and wake up, you'll be without a phone for the day. You need to charge it every night. It's not bad because it lasts me the whole day, but I'm in trouble if I fall asleep and forget to plug it in.

    >E-mail app is okay, but if E-mail is one of the main reasons you need a smartphone, than you should probably pick a smartphone other than the Sidekick.

    >The screen isn't bad, but it also isn't good, either. The auto-backlight's intentions are good and all, however.

    >It is bulky.

What Danger/Sharp/T-Mobile needs to do is this: shrink it, put a better screen in it, put a better camera in it, make SMS threaded, redesign the Jump screen (without the creepy hipsters), make the text slightly larger (my dad can't read a thing on it), make the swivel rattle quieter, add support for more music formats, and make the battery last longer, and they will have a winner.

I can't tell you how many envious looks I get when I use my SK. It is a little annoying. I wanted a Sidekick because the data plan rocks, and the keyboard is pretty sweet. I also chose it partially because of the name and what comes with it, but that's sometimes a cursing in disguise. My Verizon contract was up in 8.2007, and that A670 broke in November. I follow the Apple rumors scene, and I first heard of Apple developing a phone several years ago, but I didn't think I'd see the iPhone now. Verizon had terrible service, and there was no point in spending $150 on a replacement phone I'd only use 8 months. Retrospectively, I wish I had waited for the iPhone because I'm a huge Apple fan, but I have a GREAT phone nonetheless (much better than the A670.) I'm hoping that the iPhone will be on T-Mobile by the time my Sidekick contract is up, but if not, then, hopefully, AT&T will have good coverage here by then.

(Okay, that's a lot of text, but it's worth your time to read it.)

I read it all and must agree with all of it but the bulkyness (i like how i know its there. my last phone (not the sony ericsson t616 you see on my list) was so light, i kept thinking it was in my pocket while it was on my lap, that when i got up it dropped (alot i might add). I even lost it because i thought it was still there! Oh and that purple haired chick? yeah, shes removeable (even if you have a mac, there are themes. I have a mac, the trick is to delete the .ds_store file and when you do, never open the themes folder again (or any of the themes your gonna place in there, so to check on the theme just duplicate the folder or something so there no .ds file in it).

what was the.. oh yeah.. email.. My dad has the blackberry pearl and, its cool and all i guess but the fact that its not organized like inbox, outbox, saved, drafts etc.

I wouldn't mind it if they just thinned it. I'd be okay with that.

And I'm not a big fan of the pearl. As I recall seeing in a PhoneScoop video, the SMS and e-mail are combined, yes? That would get annoying. That and the damn SureType.

You can't view emails like you do on a computer, because a computer can view HTML emails and those are what I mostly get. Also get Powerpoint presentation emails from friends/family and you can't view those on a Sidekick either. Can't view videos that come in as attatchments in emails either because Sidekick can't play videos.

AIM client? You get what you pay for. How about my AIM messages get read to me via bluetooth headset so by the time I pull my phone out to reply I already know what the conversation is about. Spring loaded keyboard will improve response time on a Wing for typing replies to IMs. Balloon notification lets me know I got a message in the background and provides the necessary shortcut to go back to the IM client.

I think the AIM client on the Sidekick has met its match already. Send voice/video/photo via a Sidekick AIM client and then you have my interest.

Don't get me started on the Sidekick web browser. Can't save images you see on a website? What's that about? Can't download files? What's that about? I don't want to have to wait till I get HOME to view these things. It will just pile up on "things I have to do when I get home on my computer."

I only went for a Sidekick 3 because of the data plan. But after several months, I've grown tired of it. Only good thing was the Instant Messaging, but that's only one pro out of many cons, including crappy phone, big and bulky, heavy, ****** camera, no MMS, horrible looking screen, barely any customization, below par music player, connection loss for several hours, limited programs and games and ringtones...

Instant messaging was not enough to keep me interested. So i just went for a nice slider phone that has a good camera and I couldn't be happier.

My brother got a free E61i from his boss a few days ago, and if my sister doesn't want it, then the Sidekick will get to know my desk drawer better than my desktop, where it usually spends 20/24 hours of the day on charging.

As everyone knows, I think Sidekick 3 is garbage when there's lots of other phones out there that is better than the Sidekick 3.

It also have to do with marketing. Sharp and T-mobile decided to make a cheap phone and try to market it as a "in" thing to have. Than they add a high price tag to it.

Once Blackberry 8300 Curve come out for T-mobile, there will be no reason to get a Sidekick 3 anymore.

In fact, I have a feeling the reason AT&T got a chance to sell it first is because T-Mobile is afraid that the Blackberry 8300 Curve will cut into the sales of the Sidekick 3. So T-Mobile decided to let AT&T to sell it first.
