I ran this question by a couple Windows Mobile product managers at Microsoft, and they said it is not currently possible to dim the backlight; it's just an idiosyncrasy of the current OS.
Note: If you need support for your HTC device, please contact HTC Customer Support. I am not a support technician and will not be able to help in most instances.

Did you by any chance ask them about the .net keyboard input problem?

Yes, and they weren't aware of it before. They gave me someone to contact on the .Net CF team. I haven't had a chance to follow up yet, but will post here if I make any headway.

There has to be a registry key somewhere that controls this. It just may be that the backlight is dependent on another registry value or user-controlled setting. That certainly makes it more difficult.

Can't you use something like PhoneAlarm or DontForget to control the backlight? I use PowerControl on my Dash to cut the backlight output by 50% or so (granted it's for OMAP but the principle is the same).

I'm getting tired of waiting for htc to recognize/list this device and support it and especially the text input problem.

The new HP 900 series is looking mighty tempting right now... (fingers crossed it won't have its own issues....).

I apologize if this has been asked before but how can I turn off the green blinking LED and only have it active for a missed SMS or call. RE HTC S630. I have tried Dontfoget without much luck.

    Thanks

Chris, you can use DontForget for this--in the DontForget Admin app:

    1) Check "Remind unread SMS" & "Remind missed Call" under 'Monitored events'.
    2) Check the "Enable LED Alert" option under 'Reminder Settings'.
    3) Check the "Slow down LED blinking frequency (or switch off)".
-->In the box right below the above option set the frequency to "0 (Off)".

This should work. It does for me.

You can get it on Dopod site but you will have to be registered with SN.

hey guys, just recently got the C730 (lovin it!!! )...everything is working well, except when trying to retrieve email via active sync. Everytime I try to retrieve my gmail account it gives me an error message regarding connection. But I can browse the web without any problem via active sync. I checked all my settings (identical to my HTC S620 Excalibur) but still receive the error message. Via wifi everything workd email/web/etc. ... Just curious to know if anyone ever encountered this problem and maybe shed some light on my issue, thanks in advance.

    regards,
