went in ATT store to get a Tilt today figuring i can get it cheaper then an S630 and the titl being a ppc phone is generally more fully featured then any smartphone like s630.

Plus i played with the dash keyboard on a tmob display in BB (which incidentally doenst have the tilt and i thin they dont get the att ppc phones in BB just smartphones) and i want' that impressed with the tmob dash qwerty. in fact the best one of all the diff smartphones in BB from all the providers was the new Q9 or whatever for vzw. i liked that qwerty the best.

but nothing beats the slide out keyboard of the apache/wizard/tytn/tilt devices.

was going to buy tilt out right but store said they wont sell unless to new contract or renew customes cus its new and they dont have many in stock. Then i get on phone with customer service in the store and they upgrade my one line but then i stupidly had them switch it to the other line and then att store manager says i would have to upgrade my internet plan which would be $20/mo if i get the tilt. i'm like uh no.

i have other non pda phones i use on that linie and i'm not going to pay more. hes like you say you have other pda phones. i'm like no other non pda phones and he slike well all att cares is you have the blackjack on that line and you alrady should have a diff data plan now.

i really dare him to have changed my plan based on that but i said i'm not getting the titl then. i said you wnt from sale for 550 to 399 to 0.

its to the point where i'm goign to have to buy a crappy phone from att set to my line as far as thy are concerned and then not buy any of my smart or ppc phones from teh store. If i want to pay more for data i will use my vzw service for data and is the whole reason i dont.

meanwhile i'm just having my other line authorized for upgrade or the auth switched to that line and then i should be able to get the titl for 299 online price now.

just have to wait a fwe days and though i'm sick of my bj, i can just use my 8525 till then. which ironically the tilt is pretty much teh same and not much of an upgrade. sligth thinner and wm6 yeah but you can add that to the 8525. and tilt has blackberry mail and like maybe one other thing over the 8525 that i dont need but i'll prob get it anyway just cus the price is right and sell my 8525.

its tough, i want the thinnes of the s630 but if i can get a tilt for cheaper and its a mor full featured ppc phone its hard to justify the s630 anymore. if the tilt fits my seidio.com holster for the 8525 that sweetens the deal.

the problem is i never used my 8525 really or took it many places as my main phone as its just bulkier and harder to use as a phone. if the titl had a # pad on teh front then it would be great, but if i want to use an on screen # pad i';d use a crap iphone and slideing out the keyboard to dial a # has always been a problem on these type phones.

but the titl does have them highlighted in blue and though they are sideways i noticed you can slide out the keyboard and dial your # pretty easy with teh sideways #'s and then close it so it may work.

but the dialing and the size is my main concerns i guess for using it as my main phone. see its fine for me to use a ppc phone as my vzw phone since its mostly only for free in calling with fam and some friends so using it as my data phone (email, web etc.) gave it a second purpose and just use my att for all voice is what i used to do, but the better smart and ppc phones on gsm and cheaper data plan made me switch data to att. and besides i use vzw for mobile tv now too to give it a second use but only because im getting paid to review for market research study.

if ever i have to pay mroe for data on att i will be tempted to switch back to my vzw acct for data.

anywa i still not totally ure what to get. I guess its either s630 now and then s730 when that comes out or just tilt now. at which point i prob wont want or need the s730 wings cus the tilt has the slide out keyboard and the s730 will be a downgrade to smartphone.

if is stick with smartphone now in the s630 like i'm used to from moto q and blackjack the s730 will be an upgrde at leat with the slide out keyboard. but if i go ppc its hard to go back to smartphone. you get used to highlighting text, and copy paste just to name one thing ppc has over smartphone.

a tilt for 299 is obviously cheaper then an s630 for $500+ now and 600+ for the s730 in a month or 2.

anything else to consider.

att store tried to tempt me into buying an iphone no contract price. i never would but thought about getting one unlocked. its a slick package but just as i thought the on screen keyboard doesnt cut it for me. i need/prefer qwerty.

soon there will be other phones that take the best features of the iphone and make it much better with 3g and posibly a qwerty to use as an option in additon to the onscreen keyboard.

the nokia iphone like device should be great especially if it has the built in video content access through nokia

I just noticed there is a '1010' sticker on the back of my dopod, and I know it was bought in HK...is there a way to verify whether or not I have the 'good' ROM version?

I tried to do a search....and I didnt feel like reading through 48 pages...so...

Is there a big difference with the C730 and the S630? I have another thread saying that importgsm has the C730 for like $450...and I was originally just going to get the S620 and upgrade it to wm6, but since the price difference is only $50 I figure the C730 might be the way to go?

Anything I should be warned about?

The $50 difference is minor considering the upgrade in the processor and connection speeds. I'd take the C730 over the S620 in a heartbeat, even if it were a $75-$100 difference.

The only thing to watch for is the text input bug. Not all C730's have it, and it seems that all of the S630's have it. You will need to read through the thread (I'd use the search) to find out more about it if you're interested.

Is there anything missing from the C730 thats in the S630?

I'm not sure. I know that the C730 has a "Quick Notes" app (not voice notes) that is similar to Notepad that the S630/S620 do not have. It's also got a copy/paste/etc app built in that is handy sometimes.

I am coded theme and scheme by hand using xml. The background image is the stock AT&T logo image from the 8925 background.

I'm starting to notice the battery on my C730 could be an issue - I say 'could' because the battery indicator on the homescreen drops to two or one bars, but the battery life showing under settings-power management shows much more life remaining, and I'm not sure which to believe.

I've disabled beaming and switched the network to 3G only so it doesn't hunt back and forth - although I guess I can change it to GPRS when I'm not net surfing, and make it 3G only when I'm ready to surf.

However, with that in mind, has anyone tried out an extended battery? I saw a 2000mh battery from Boxwave, but it's so thick! I wonder if another vendor has a slimmer one available.
