Yes, I got it late Friday evening (after I got home from work) and have been fooling with it ever since. In regards to branding; it's very light - only the carrier name on the front, the model name on the back, the Softbank settings regarding data, and Softbank's S-Mail. You will have to manually add the data settings for at&t WAP, IMS, and the Medianet proxy but those are simple.
So far, I think it's perfect for me; provides all the features I liked about the 8525 (Wi-Fi, dedicated push email, and QWERTY keypad) with the things I loved about the V9 (it fits into my pocket without making a noticeable decent, it's not too heavy or bulky, it's highly customizable, and it's sleek and well-designed).
I've only had a few issues with it really; it comes application locked and the MMS system is worthless. The first problem of it being app locked wasn't that big a deal when I first started installing programs to it but when I wanted to install the HTC Home program or something like SRS WOW HD audio enhancer it would tell me I had insufficient rights to do so. A quick Google (and some Babelfish translations) later and I found a guide to app unlock the phone - which worked flawlessly. The second problem isn't so easy; from some reason Softbank uses an MMS system/program which is incompatible with most of the world. So you can't send or receive (I don't really know about the second part...no one sends me MMS) MMS at all. I've tried every hack listed to get an alternative MMS program on the phone (even Asukal's guide for the X01HT) but to no success. One workaround I've begun using is just emailing the picture, video, etc. to the recipient's phone (via the
xxxxxxxxxx@cingularme.com address where the x's are their phone number).
I haven't been able to drive to Raleigh or Charlotte (the nearest 3G areas in North Carolina until Fayetteville goes online sometime this year) so I can't tell you about it's ability to handle at&t's 3G but I'm quite sure it will. If I get time next week I'll definitely find out for you.
So other than those two niggles I think this is a great phone and I'm glad I bought it.
