can you use the infrared port to change the "load up" screen graphic?? and if so, what type of graphic file has to be used and where can you get them on the web?? also when using the infrared port to get ringers, can you just download a ringer using the irda port or do you still have to "compose" it before transferring it to your phone, Thanks.. i've already used the port but only to transfer address book addresses back and forth between a palm.
I can't help you much about the specs for a startup graphic (as I haven't had time to bother with it)...
But YES, you can change the text to a startup graphic. I believe the text overrides the picture. So, if you download a picture, turn off the text.
Install XTNDConnectViewer. I use that to download ringtones (RTTL files) to my phone, manage SMS, addressbook and the startup text (and graphic). It's included on the CD that came with the S40 and works with IR (which is how I'm using it!).
You can change only the logo shown during net search (aka greeting logo), not the power-on logo. A greeting text overrides the greeting logo.
The greeting logo has 104 * 64 pixels with 4 colours (2bit).
You can creat logos with any program that produces Windows *.bmp files. To send them to your S40 use the XTND Viewer (download recent version from Siemens website). See help file for exact procedure.
