    Question Xv6700 align screen "loop"

Purchased used Xv6700 on eBay, plugged power cord in cradle and set phone in cradle to charge batt. Got "ashtray" smell after 1 minute. No leds ever lit. Assume cradle is fried. Are leds suppose to light during use (USB) or charging (power) and (battery)?

After charging battery via power cord, phone start up seems fine, but I can not get screen to align or get out of that page to set up phone. I have done align taps for >5 minutes and still can't get out of screen. I have done several soft and hard resets and have "cleaned" the screen gently with paper business card; still stuck on align screen.

Seen alot of this problem in BB's, but have not seen solution other than return phone.

Anyway to bypass the align screen considering I can't even get to any other screen?

    Hi buddy.
I faced a similar problem with my 6700.
Though it was when i upgraded the rom did this happen.
I just went back to the kirvins rom and all was fine.
Try it if you dont find any other solution.

The cable connecting the digitizer and lcd to mobo could be loose. I don't imagine that's that problem, but as a last resort, look up a guide to opening it, I wrote one, and make sure. I bought my first 6700 off of ebay, and the keyboard was unplugged, so it wouldn't switch to landscape, and I couldn;t use the keyboard.

I have one day, 3 hours!

Hello, everyone! I was thinking about bidding on an Verizon Wireless XV6700 at ebay. Apparently the person has a problem, similar to yours. The phone won't leave the alignment screen. But I was thinking that if this is something easily fixed, I could get my hands on an expensive phone much cheaper than usual. Does anyone know if this IS easily fixed, or if I should bother bidding on it and how much, at the most should I pay for it. Thanks for your help!

    Align Screen Loop possible fix

Hey guys, I just ran into this problem on a xv6700, to get past it, I held down the Red phone key (bottom right) while I tapped the screen during the screen alignment excercise. Hope this works for you.
