when you leave the office/work area
when you start eating
hmmmm i remember i had a debate about this with a fellow employee at my last job. he was saying his break starts when he gets his food. so he would spend like 10minutes going out to get the food and start his 30min break when he got back lol. managers didn't care but i'm just curious on your opinions
whenever i want.
same here but please refer back to the question. everyone's lunch break is "timed" in a way as a 4 hour lunch break isn't acceptableOriginally Posted by angel_wing0
I take my lunch at 2, it's 45 mins long, but doesn't start till i get back and start eating. So i usually leave at 1:45 and get back here by 2.
Management is pretty laid back, so it's never an issue.
Same here. I have no time limit on "lunch breaks". Longest I've taken was 3hrs. Went to nudie bar with a client. It started when I walked out of my office. There are days I don't take a lunch due to workload, like yesterday and possibly today.Originally Posted by angel_wing0
If I were managing hourly employees though, I would count it when they leave their workspace.
Things to ponder on:

The other night I was drinking shots of tequilla, then I switched over to shot of Goldschlager. The next day, I pooped a Mexican coin.

How does a blind person know when they are done wiping their butt?
when i work a full shift and have to take a lunch my manager doesnt give a **** about when we clock out, so everyone goes into the food court (i work at a mall), takes their time and usually spends 10-15min buying food then come back to clock out for lunch
when i start eating![]()
As long as its not more than 1 hour i dont see why anyone would have a problem.Originally Posted by babooza69
my guess is that managers and such higher up type people would be concerned on how long your lunch break was only if you were working in a "timed" workplace. In the mall for example, they need a certain number of employees to help out, whether it be man the cash register or to stock or whatever. However, in my job, they don't care how long you take for lunch or whatever. as long as the work gets done that's all that matters. Of course, i do have deadlines, but its like with school homework, as long as its done by the due date it doesn't matter when you do it.
with all that being said, my lunch break is usually whenever i get hungry. i usually take about 15 minutes to eat then walk around for the other 15

I used to clock out after I got my food, but then one of my friends almost got fired for doing that, so now I have to go straight from my register to the timeclock, so thats when my lunch starts.

i eat whenever i want, i just tell the other guards im off to eat. Yeah its suppose to be like 30 min lunch though
Technically, when I leave the office/work area, but management is lenient as long as you don't do it often or if it is special occasion like a co-worker retiring or leaving the company.
