I returned the Speck ToughSkin the "clear" rubber part started turning yellow after a week i just got a screen protector from apple and a incase leather case
It appears that some debris (?) is getting trapped between the Belkin acrylic case and my iPhone, and is leaving marks on the aluminum and plastic back cover, as well as the stainless steel screen bezel. The iPhone is a bit loose in the case, so maybe that’s the problem!
Before you think that I’m being careless:
- I always put my devices in cases (either acrylic or silicone) to protect them
- I always put my devices alone in my pockets (no coins, keys or other items)
- Even cheap (eBay special) acrylic cases have never scratched any of my devices before
- My pockets are clean of debris
I’ve contacted Apple and Belkin… I’ll keep you posted!
Nice case frilledlizard. Personally, I am not a fan of that form factor, but I understand how others might be. Sweet case. I have not seen that one before.
So I was wondering where is the best place to get the rubber incase for the phone. I only know about getting it directly from apple, and was also wondering how long would it take from apple. thanks
I replaced the Belkin with a Griffin Elan Snap-in Case, $4 cheaper. This case is VERY form fit and is thinner than the Belkin. I was concerned that the iPhone would slip out of the case but once I put it in and shook the S*** out of it it did not budge. The Griffin comes with an EXCELLENT screen protector and cleaning cloth. The screen protector actually keeps finger prints at bay, goes on easily, is virtually undetectable, and actually feels better than sliding finger over the glass - no air bubbles, no water to apply. This case has a great clip, a clip with a hook which is great for clipping to shorts - I don't see this one coming unclipped. Also, all buttons and connectors are accessible without taking out of case - I have not tried to doc it while in the case, but can try if anyone is interested. I have only had this case for a couple days, so it has not been "battle tested", but so far, the build quality, screen protector, and low profile work well for me.
Hope this helps someone.
Totally! I happen to have bought this case on iDay too. I saw the screen protector but did not want to deal with it until I read your review. I just put it on and it's totally awesome, no fluids, no mess and the bubbles are easy to get out. And you're right, no fingerprints and it feels just as good or better than sliding over glass! Thanks heaps for the tip!
And kudos to Griffin for creating a simple, yet excellent case. I love the simple hook-on belt clip! Even works on yoga pants!

I've experienced case scratches before. Don't remember if it was a digital camera or something else. Debris gets trapped and then the case acts like a giant Brillo pad brushing against your beautiful device.
Anyway, I'm very glad you got it resolved. Are you going to WordCamp in San Francisco?
Glad I could help.So far I am much happier with this case over the Belkin. Belkin's concept was good, but execution was flawed. Fortunately I didn't have the problem that other are having - scratches caused BY the case.
And yea, with that hook on the clip, I don't think you need to worry about the case coming unclipped on your Yoga pants. :-)
-I don't know who u are, I don't know what u want. If u are looking for a ransom, I can tell u I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills that I have acquired over the course of watching Chuck Norris in Walker, Texas Ranger, skills that make me a nightmare for people like u.
Has anyone had trouble with the Contour Isee acrylic popping open or scratching up the phone. I am not going to use the belt clip, so I won't have to worry about that...but am concerned that people are having trouble keeping the case together.
The Isee is very tight...it is very hard to get the phone out and I am very concerned about scratching up the phone.
Does the phone get too hot...or have trouble of reception because of the case? Thanks for anyone with info.

I wrote about my experience with the isee case on page 7 of this thread. You might find it helpful.
Seems like good quality leather, but for that price does it annoy you that you cant have your headphones plugged into your iphone without the flap sticking straight out?
