The Nationwide plans and the ACII plans are the exact same price.

If you want to find out if data is by the minute or by the mb, then find out what plan you are on.

This is not new news, and doesn't require us to keep going back and forth.

Well, I have done all the necessary steps for the hacks (or at least think I have) and it keeps saying something along the lines of: HTTP Error 401 Unauthorized

I have signed up for zaks proxy with my phone number, and I have used the pre-written paramtable, so I have no clue as to what the problem is.

I have signed up for zaks on my number, but I am am attached to a family plan. Would this affect anything?

Ok, so I did try the Australian proxy at the beginning of the forum, and it works fine. So, why would zaks not work? As I stated above, I signed up with my phone number, but I am under my mother's number in the plan. I would be grateful if someone could help me fix this problem

When it comes to Zaks, make sure you are using the right WAP proxy server IP address and port that is working (there are a few and you can check on them on the web site). Also, make sure you actually enabled WAP access on Zaks, aside from just signing up for Zaks, and that the WAP access got enabled. And double-check that you are using the right password, etc.

On a sidenote, as Humpa mentioned, you definitely want make sure that you are not on a Nationwide plan, otherwise you'll be hit with data charges for using Mobile Web (even when using a non-VZW WAP proxy server), unless you have V CAST VPak (although in that case you might as well use VZW's WAP proxy server that is included in that).

Typically the username isn't something you change, and I believe mostly it's your phone number, although I guess it might depend on how it's set up on the WAP proxy server that you are using.

Well, I got it working. It ended up that on my phone that the user name wasn't my phone number. So on zaks I am registered under my phone number, and couldn't log in. I changed my user name to my phone number, and then changed my password to the one on zaks.

I am having problems too. I can't dial that number, it says called failed please try again. I have also changed the paramtable to 20, and rebooted my phone. I really miss my 8300!

The person you quoted did not have problems getting into the Service Menu - he had problems editing the WAP settings in there because he hadn't edited his paramtable1.fil

##program8550 Send works for the 8550 - is that what phone you have? Because you don't have it listed.

I just had to replace my 8550 today with a new one. I previously was able to go online via the tutorial at the beginning of this page, however when redoing it on the new phone, it won't work. I even signed up to zaks and have their proxy settings in my phone, but still nothing will work. no matter what i do i get "Network Unavailable. Retry Later" I get this message when i use the news shortcut, get it now, and my account. What can I do to remedy this. I read through this entire forum and didn't see any help with this problem.

    Thanks

I asked if you could access GIN to determine if data was working on your account. GIN doen't use the paramtable1.fil or the WAP settings in the Service Menu.
So if you truly can't access GIN (you weren't very clear), then I assume it is just that data on your account is misconfigured. Call 611 and tell them that you can't access Get It Now. I assume you can't send a pic message either. That also doesn't use the WAP settings or paramtable1.fil and is another indication that data is misconfigured. I haven't read any posts about this happening lately, but they used to sometimes forget to re-enable Premium Network Service when making changes to your account.

Of course it could also be your phone. But call 611 and find out. And don't mention the WAP settings or the paramtable1.fil - set them back to the defaults though, of course.

    ##program8550 doesn't work

I have uploaded the paramtable1.fil file like in the tutorial, but when I get to step 7 where I'm supposed to punch ##program8550 and hit send it just calls and some dude says "one and two, your call can not be completed as dialed, please check the number and try again or call client care at 611 for assistance."

I am signed up with Telus in Canada, does anyone know if that makes a difference?

Pressing 0 at the menu screen also doesn't work, but I have an 8550 so I kind of figured it wouldn't. Does anyone else have this problem?
