I should've been clearer though - 8500 and newer use the same cable.
.... I forgot that 9800 is a larger number than the 8500, but came out before the 8500 and therefore doesn't use the same cable.

Based on various posts in this thread, as well as various other similar ones, like http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1204624, it seems like that has been working for people and I'd imagine should continue working unless perhaps there's a new firmware (and I don't belive there has been one yet) that might change something.

dial #MIN send or #BAL send (it is free)... either that or put your original websession back. Verizon blocks all traffic, so those account url's will only work from verizon's proxy.

When a normal phone connects to the web (whether it is Get It Now, or VCast, or WAP, or sending/receiving pic messages), it uses minutes (data minutes, which are no different than voice minutes and are billed exactly the same - free N&W of course).

There is only one way to get data rates (per kb data charges) on a phone plan - and that is if you sign up for the 100MB tethering package. Then you will get 100MB's free a month, and pay per kb after that. But that only applies to tethering, which connects with the phonenumber@dun.vzw3g.com. That is the tethering username, and that is how Verizon differentiates between normal phone function data connections and a tethered phone data connection.

The normal phone data connection (WAP, VCast, GIN, pic messaging) uses the username phonenumber@vzw3g.com (you don't see this, but it is programmed in the phone somewhere).

EDIT: and the data usernames I'm talking about is not the username in the WAP Settings - that username is only used for the WAP server, and nothing else. That is just for the access to the WAP/Proxy server, and has nothng to do with billing.

So does that mean that if I watch youtube videos on my phone, I wont have to pay extra for the data as long as I don't have a plan with a limited amount and use a different wap proxy?

If you have a feature phone then using data will use up minutes as normal call would, unless you have V CAST VPak. As for YouTube, you can't really watch YouTube videos without V CAST VPak anyway since the videos themselves are not available through Mobile Web, just through a special area of V CAST.
