I do have a question about the RichardSolo battery, though... does the USB connector also allow for syncing or just charging when connecting to the computer?
Big problem with those two chargers is that they seem to both need an Apple iPod/iPhone cable to charge them which sorta defeats the purpose. Good if you just need to charge at home and go, but if you need to charge on the road and don't have the iPhone cable you can't recharge by just using any standard USB cable.

Thanx for the links though! The first one looks good especially since it follows the iPhones form factor.

APC has never offically stated that it works with the iphone. Last year they told me that they were not going to test it for the iphone. But, mine works for both iphone versions, and also my ipods.

The rs is 1200ma and supports a direct connection to the iPhone if the apc doesn't then how do you connect it to the iPhone, via cable? Why choose the apc over the rs?

the kensington comes with some extra cables that let you use it not only on an IPhone, but with anything else that uses mini USB (Blackberry, Blue Tooth Headsets, etc)
MUCH more versatile than just a plain old battery..Plus, there is a self tester on the Kensignton that tells you how much juice is left in it!
Very nice pkg; got mine through Amazon/JR Music was the supplier, for 49 bucks and free shipping! Can't beat that....

Yeah, sure. You use the same sync cable that comes with iPhone that you use for everything else, be it a wall brick, a car charger, a computer, whatever.
Why choose the apc over the rs?
    Simple - more power.

Sure, but you can get 3 charges from the UPB10. I guess it all depends on what you need it for, but if you want a single device to pack as much power as possible, the APC can't be beat.

One of the things that REALLY impresses me about the iphone is that all the accessories and peripheral stuff, from all the suppliers uses the same sort of cabling system; its nice that you don't need special cables for certain things.
I was most impressed with the Griffin car charger; I love the way the cable is NOT soldered into it, but, insted, its a USB cable, so you can use the 12V plug to charge other things, besides the phone...

Everything will work with everything else...very nice to see, coming from 20+ years of dealing with Windows incompatibilities!

3G iphone external battery pack TY460

I purchased one battery pack from www.imaxpower.com. The battery works great for my 3G iphone so far. The pro is the price is very good with such high capacity. This guy had a video come with it. The cons is you need to attached a USB cable with it. But such money I paid, it is still a good buy. I bought a backup battery from Fry's Lenmark. which is not good. Compare it with TY460 from imaxpower.com, it is much worse.

    Check this one out

The guy who started Sharper Image, this is his product/company.

The thing that's cool about this one is that you can charge the backup battery and the iphone at the same time (while it's plugged in to the iPhone) so you don't have to have a separate charger.
Check out his video, he does a good sales pitch.
It worked on me. I'm going to buy it (when I get around to it.)

I also just saw one made by Duracel. I'm not sure where you can find it.

There's a company called Mophie that makes a product called the Juice Pack which is a combination case/battery for the iPhone (although it is currently only for the 1st gen iPhone). From the specs it looks like it nearly doubles the iPhone's battery and it seems to be rechargeable itself.
