Ok.. now there's two of us... I stumbled across this dialog to find a solution to my problem (exact same thing), so any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
I just got a reply back from Alltel. THEY offer a kit for $70.00 that will enable you to only get the phone book off.... I should have investigated the whole software thing early on, before I made the purchase of these phones....
I'd take that $70 quote from Alltel with a grain of salt - they also sell the car-lighter charger for $30 (I got mine for <$10), and I didn't even ask what the headset/mic was...
I think there would be a difference between wanting to synchronize data (ie: phone lists, calendar, notes, etc.) and simply uploading ringtones and pics to the phone.
When you connect the phone to the USB, does the phone appear under "My Computer" as a separate drive, with internal folders - or does it not recognize at all?
Wish us luck! My cable should be coming in the mail today - I'm not overly worried, I paid nothing for the phone, and $6 for the cable... I certainly won't pay $70 for software.
FYI - on eBay, there are listings for a combination USB cable *and* software for relatively cheap... search for "AX275 USB Cable"
any solutions yet? still working on this phone. alltel will not allow you to transfer ringtones to the phone on there 70$ software pack I almost can promise that one.

Nothing - I've got a cable and a phone... I don't take pictures because the only way to get them off the phone is to "send" them as a message (one at a time), which is $.25 a pop. hardly worth it for a minimal-quality photo anyway. Ringtones are annoying - if I put my favorite song on there, I'd be sick of it in a week. So... i have a $6 cable that does nothing, and a free phone that has features I won't use.
Any of the available software for this phone indicates that as far as Media -
the data is read only, meaninig that you can get the data but not write data.
Using the FileSystem Mode of BitPim, camera pictures can be "saved" from the phone your computer. I have a cable and found the pics in the file structure of the phone - under 'brew' 'media' 'mp'.
Right mouse select 'save...' then point to where you wish to save them.
The settings for bitpim and the ax275 is 'other'. Once filesystem is selected the program 'reads' the entire structure.
Did not attempt to get/send phonebook/contacts using this method - but I really don't care about that data.
I don't know if it matters but I do have the phone setup(PC Data Mode) to use RSR232 verses USB Mode.
Works for me - all I wanted was to 'get' the pics so I didn't have to email my life away!!
P.S. You need to install the USB(3) Driver. http://www.cellphonemall.net/wireles...ata_cables.asp
Select the thrid one "LG3USB".zip. Once installed you will see three responses from the operating system when the phone is plugged-in:
1) LG Modem, 2)LG Serial Comm 3)LG USB connection.
This should help for those of you don't get any response when you plug your phone in.

I joined this forum just to let you guys and gals know how to download MP3 ringtones and pictures to your LG AX275 phone.
The things you need are a data cable and BitPim installed. As previously stated, BitPim recognizes the phone as “Other CDMA” and thats ok. Once the phone is connected to BitPim click on file system – go to brew>media>mp- (this is where your pictures are) you should save your pics first so right click on any file and save to my pics or desktop.
To download a picture to the phone, go back to BitPim -right click on any of the picture files and click overwrite. Explorer will come up, find the path to the picture you want to send to the phone, and that is it. The only thing is that the file name stays the same but no big deal for me.
In order to download MP3’s you use the same overwrite process however you are going to overwrite a recorded voice or recorded audio file, so make sure you have some voice files on the phone to overwrite. If you don’t have any voice files go to Menu>multimedia>record voice on your phone.
Now to add MP3s go back into filesystem in Bitpim go to Brew>media>ms- you should see some voice files right click on one click overwrite and find the path to the ringtone/mp3 you want to download. It takes a few minutes to send it to the phone but it works. After your done go to the phone find you voice files in my media>audio>recorded audio – click options and set it as your ringtone.
I used a resized photo and a mp3 that was cut down about a quarter in size (1mb), so you might want to do that first but I promise all the above works. It is really easy and I hope this works out for everyone. Please reply
Tried the paths he described for both the mp3 and the photo and they worked beautifully!
Thanks for posting that. I agree with the other poster in that this thread should be stickied for folks that will invariably come in looking for just this info.
One last question that will save me some hunting - anyone know the ideal pic size to fit the screen?
got the phone in Dec. and couldn't get the pics off it onto the computer. This forum and you folks on this post got it done for me. Taking pics for reference only but still look half way decent. Also added my own ringtones to it. Do be careful about sizes though. Overfilled the memory with just 1 mp3. Had to reset the phone. All turned out well though and I thank you brainkids for that. Still messing with other things on it too.
