Rahul, try and call back...get another rep because this process should be instantaneous. If they give you the same spiel about 7-10 days, ask them why and let me know.

When I called the rep said she had to check if the IMEI unlock code was "available" to her, if not she said it would be 7-10 business days. Luckily the code was readily available to her.

Nick, some SIM Unlock codes are in the system and available and some must be calculated out and take a bit of time (ie my E62). They told me it would take 7-10 days and I got it in about 4 hours.

I just called and didn't even have to wait on hold before I spoke with someone. She gave me the unlock code for my Treo 750 in minutes. Definitely a better experience than calling customer support.

    Thank you!

FYI Desmond is an idiot. If you call that number and he picks up, hang up and try again. Trust me.

I'm heading to the UK in spring of next year, perhaps i'll give this a try. 'Not sure I want to roam for $0.99 per minute, though technically people over here would be able to reach me at no additional cost...

I had the Unlock Code in 3 hrs... wow!! I'm impressed... I got a txt msg as well as an email!!

However, the steps for unlocking outlined in the email did not work.. So, I popped in a TMO sim and it asked for the unlock code on boot up.. and it went right thru!

Thanks for the number man!! My 750 is now Unlocked!! w00t

My mum had no problem getting the unlock code for her retired Moto SLVR last month but the rep kept trying to pressure the international add-on and all that fluff. The old days of Cingular was a bit easier without the extra headache.

There are some awful reps with at&t so hanging up and calling back is really the way to go. Also if you're in a rush of traveling, CSRs can bump the call to tier 2 support and they'll walk you through entering the unlock over the phone! No need to wait for an email

She didn't have to get the international roaming?
