This is a great thread!!!!!!!!!! I jumped on board and gave them a call. They picked up right away and I gave them the story that I'm leaving the country too. The rep could care less and just gave me the code. I entered it and popped in a T-Mobile sim and it worked like a charm on my Moto V9

Any ideas? I had a Cingular locked iPaq I unlocked a while back and I just had to put in the code when it booted with a t-mobile sim in it.
OK, did some checking and found the answer. If you go to the settings, options, advanced options, sim section. While at the screen type in MEPE in all caps. It then prompts you for the unlock code. Worked like a charm. I can now use my T-mobile sim in it.

I just tried to get a code for my brand new Q Global but they told me that since I have been a customer for less than 90 days, they'd have the code to me in about six day - which I understand is usually code for less than that...

This was the same response that I received from them too, when I requested the code for one of my phones, prior to having service with them for 90 days.

If you call what information do they ask for and is this unlock a temporary unlock or permanent?

I could be wrong about this, as I know so little about iPhone unlocking, as I decided I did not want one and went for the iPod Touch instead - but my impression is that the U.S. iPhones don't have unlock CODES ... it's all done through firmware. Someone please correct me if this is an errant assumption.

So far, but there might always be a code to unlock deep in the vault in Cupertino.
