    Cell towers in , WV

IT seems that along IS-Rt.79 in west Virginia there seems to be allot of New Cingular, Alltel, NTelos and many of them that don't state who is connected to them. The tower map I'm using is great but for some towers it just tells you who owns it or what company owns but not the name of the cell company using it. Is there any way to find out? Also is there any way to find out if they are CDMA or GSM?, Mike

You might give this a try

Being in New England, I use this

    http://www.necellularsites.net/

If you have a problem findng what you want on the first link, maybe you can drop an e-mail to the folks at the second link, or visit cellguru.net and send him an e-mail. Cell Guru is mainly for NE, but I am sure he would know where to get the info you need.
T-Mobile’s new marketing campaign for Vermont and Western New Hampshire:
“Try T-Mobile’s blazingly fast GPRS data network. We’re faster than iDEN and TDMA combined!”

Thanks Sweeper, This is the one I have been using and it works great. Just wish it gave a little more info on who is leasing the towers or however they do it. Thanks again, Mike

    Hi Mike-in-WV,

Another site I have come across is this one:

    http://www.antennasearch.com

It is a great site showing where the towers are, and what kind.
I think it is THE site you are trying to find You punch in an address, and it'll show you where the cell towers/antennas are in your neighborhood (superimposed over a Google map)

Thanks for the link to a nice site. The biggest problem with your site is that you need to give it a house address and most of us use the PO because we are so far out in the bush,Lol. It sure looks like a great site! I'll try my sons street address and see what happens.
I talked to a lady in town this morning who was working on a Verizon pay phone and we started talking about Verizon towers in this area of Clay County. She said there is none and she hasn't heard of any plans for one in the area. We both know you can pick them up on 77 and 79 but even then they are not close together. As big as Verizon is it sure seems strange that they aren't all over these mountains. Mike
