    TMobile data slow as hell...

I have a HTC TyTn Im using on the TMobile network with their $40 data plan and it is slow as piss, almost to the point to where Im about to cancel service.

The speeds I am getting are around 30kps, which is rediculous in this day and age.

    Anyway to speed it up?

And you weren't aware of this before???

It's widely known that as of right now, tmobile does not have 3G therefore your data speeds will be suspect.

Sprint is good for data, but that's about it. Dealing with customer service at Sprint is usually the pits and T-Mobile has finally overtaken them in NYC where it counts the most: voice.

For $6 a month, T-Mobile web is good if you can get Operamini to work (like I have) on your fully unlocked phone.

You need to drop that $40 data plan. Try the $5.99 data plan. No, it won't speed up data but it'll at least not make you feel completely raped when paying for TMO turtle slow speeds... There's no which way or how TMO's slow GPRS/EDGE speeds are even worth anywhere near $40.

If you're still not satisfied with speeds on TMO go with Sprint. They've got the fastest data network in the country and their data is cheaper than most-- and the cheapest (FREE) if you get a SERO plan.

complaining of 30kbps... there is a problem. its not that T-Mobile doesn't have 3G

its that T-Mobile has EDGE these days... thats up to 244kbps last time I checked. there is a problem in your area or your device, get those checked out. my Treo gets 230kbps on average using T-Mobile's network.

    I get 170+kbps with K790a tethered
I'd wait for UMTS for $19.99 tethered (I doubt Sprint SERO allows tethering, and usage)

I remember the days of GPRS (where EDGE is not available)
you CAN'T use any other application once streaming audio is active, like currently Slingbox and EDGE
once Slingbox is active, ALL other applications are congested
I just wish I can get unlocked AWS HSDPA 3.6 device, and get Verizon FIOS at home

    how about the usage
currently since I stream slingbox a lot, that the data usage is more than 3GB even with EDGE (and expect will be more than 15GB with HSDPA 3.6)

You know, I had Sprint for about 2 weeks at one point and while I loved EV-DO, I've gotten pretty used to T-Mobile's EDGE. It really doesn't bother me waiting another 5 seconds for a web page to pop up.

Sure I can understand the slower data speeds if using you phone as a modem or if trying to use a data card, but still, I really don't mind EDGE anymore.

BTW, 10Mbps Download and 5Mbps Upload speed is the bomb. I just got FiOS TV and Internet about 6 months ago and I have to say, its teh r0x0rz.
