Good article, thanks! It's very applicable to my part of CA, very rural, rugged, in many places isolated and low population. Wireless coverage varies, but is poor to non-existent in several areas, thank goodness for the highway call boxes (which are basically 3-Watt transceivers, with solar and batteries for power, and are enclosed and weatherproof), which cover many places where regular cell phones won't work.
