Debranding SE w580i to use Flash themes - Has anyone done it?

Hi, has anyone been successful in debranding their SE w580i, in order to use Flash themes? If so, what method did you use? I was speaking to a friend, and she said that it wasn't possible yet for Rogers phone, but is this true?

You can flash the phone now.. i got mine done for $20 @ pmall

Flashed my phone with www.wotanserver.com with generic america 1 firmware. Works beautifully flash themes and all . Trust me the easiest and fastest way to debrand the phone is through wotan.

I did it for a friend who has a rogers branded grey w580. Wotan is straight forward but if you can get the firmware/customization files and are confident in flashing you can use setools lite. That's what I used. Just as fast as wotan and it's free.

Just use generic america 1, ciph off has always confused me and i used to know what it was but all i remember is you don't want that version of firmware. Not really much of a difference between america 2 and trade usa, i just think that SE releases updates via SEUS to america 1 before the other 2.

i just checked my phone in the service menu and it showed R7AC001 and EROM: R3A022. I'M NOT SURE WHICH IS THE CORRECT VERSION i'm looking for? the latest wotanserver shows R6BC002. so i'm confused as to which number i have. also, i have seen people saying sony us site has firmware updates, i thought they were just software updates? is the sony update service for updating firmware from sony? so the advantage from wotan is just to debrand it.?

Correct. Wotan let's you debrand or change the region of your phone. You can also use it to update if SEUS says that your phone is already has the latest firmware when it doesn't.

I used XS++ and it was amazingly easy. The only hard part was finding the US FS outside of topsony. I'm a little disappointed with the flash themes, though; I was really hoping I'd be able to just set the flash menu without having to modify anything on the PC.
