    Best price for 3650 Memory?

    Hi,

What' the best price for the 3650 expandable memory. This past weekend at Costco (Richmond, CA) I saw a 256 MB memory card for $64.99.

Any better deals than this and is this memory type available in a bigger size.

    thanks

Some posts I have seen suggest a 256 card may be slower than a smaller card. Also keep in mind that Nokia's position on this topic is as follows: Use of any card other than a Nokia memory card will void your warranty on the phone. The largest card they currently are selling fyi is a 64 mg one for over $80.00.

Also the memory I saw at a local Costco was not MMC but rather SD and compact flash which is NOT compatible with the 3650 so be careful to get the right kind of memory.. and from a good name if you don't want to take a chance of screwing up your warranty.

    Good luck

Today I bought a 64mb for $30.00 on ebay, I don't think thats to bad of a price. On nokia they charge an Arm and a Leg.

I got a 128mb SanDisk card at Circuit City for $79. Saw a 32mb SanDisk at Best Buy for $30. Should have looked online for cheaper but something about having the product in front of you...I end up giving in all the time

Nokia's position, as explained to me by 2 different Nokia tech support people, is that if you use non-nokia memory they won't
support the phone under any warranty claim. In other words you can get it repaired but Nokia will charge you for the service. Of course they have no way of knowing what you are using unless you tell them or you ship it back to them with the non- nokia card installed. It seems like a lot of people are using other 3rd party memory cards without problems. My comment was just a heads up on Nokia's position on this issue in case people end up contacting Nokia, if any memory or other non-memory problem with the phone does arise, and you end up dealing with Nokia tech support. If you tell them it is non-Nokia memory OR that the size of your mmc card is greater than 64 megs ( the current maximum size Nokia is selling) you will have a problem with a warranty claim.

    128 Megs

I have one from Expansys and have been using for about a week... I cannot really say it slows the phone down.... As of a matter of fact, today I was playing with my and a new 3650 with firmware 3.07. I had both phones in front of me and the speed of pretty much everything is exactly the same.

The only difference I found, and this is off the topic but still interesting, is that the 3650 with the 3.07 has a better screen, better colors rendition and depth....

Do not get me wrong here, my 2.50 has an excellent screen, but the 3.07 is even better......

falco...any other major differences w/ver 3.07? i have 2.54. i'm hoping that some of the issues will be resolved w/ver. 3.07 like the ringtones not being as loud.

i hope FW upgrades will be availble soon...iheard that LV Wireless isn't doing them for 3650 at this moment.

    thanks.

    3.07

Unfortunately I did not test the audio (calls) as the unit has been sold... However, I compared pretty much all other features. I did find the phone menus a bit faster and the applications as well (I had the 16 Meg card on mine for the test).... The ringers are a bit louder, but the speaker phone remains the same (I was hoping for an improvement). In the end there are differences for the better, but very minor differences. The reception is at par (visually that is). The screen is the most obvious, but then again, I could only tell as I had the phones side by side. Meaning, the 2.50 is excellent. The 3.07 better.

Is an upgrade worth? Well, depends on how much it'll cost.... but I would say go for it....

A final thought.... Whatever you set to run on the memory card and also pictures and video clips, will open a bit slower as opposed to have them on the phone memory. The size of the card does not matter. I tried both the 16 and 128 meg.... There is a bit of delay when loading...nothing major but it is there.....

I'm getting my 3650 in soon... BUT I'm still perplexed how Nokia can state that using non Nokia memory void the warranty! It's just plain idiotic! lol

I doubt it actually voids the warranty.. I called tech support and they told me only socket bluetooth cards were supported.. tech support is a bunch of morons don't listen to them
