    Motorola Z8

Ok, recently had an upgrade through o2 and after reading great reviews I took out the Z8. The first few days I had the phone were great, I was impressed by the design, the screen and the functionality. I also found that a lot of the problems reported didnt seem much of a problem, the main one was the useability of the 1,2 and 3 keys. I have never found them to be too close to the slider and I also think that the interface is well designed.

However, the past few days have been somewhat of a nightmare with it. The phone first of all began to randomly restart, and still does that now. I thought I could live with it as it doesnt take long to reboot it. But when you are rebooting it 10-15 times a day, it gets extremely annoying.
The other problem I have is the battery life. The first few days I was messing around with the phone a lot so presumed this was why I was recharging it nearly twice a day. But the past few days I have hardly used the phone. I left it to charge overnight last night, this morning I made a couple of calls and sent a few txt msgs. Then it shutdown, I rebooted it and the phone showed 2 bars left. I received a call after that and listened to a voicemail and it showed 1 bar. I then had to go home at dinner to charge the phone as it began to flash low battery.

I can see from reading different blogs and websites that many people are having the restart problem. But what about the battery problem? is anyone having that and does anyone have any idea why it might be?

Also is there a way to fix the constant rebooting? perhaps a firmware update?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I really like the phone and I would hate to have to send it back!

I too am having the same battery problem, about 30 hours max with little use, this might improve with time but is still very poor.

As for your reboot problem, sounds like you might have a software problem and you should take it back to your provider for them to look in to it.

Sorry this isn't very possative, but when i find out more i'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks for the post. From what I have read it is a software problem, but it seems like nearly every handset that people get suffer with this problem at some point.

I'd be happy with 60-70 hours, having said that though it seems to be getting a little better.

My blackberry pearl lasts for around 90-100 hours and it gets heavy use so by reason the Z8 should last just as long...

I had this problem with my E815 awhile back. I had bought an extended battery. Worked really well for awhile but eventually burnt out and wouldnt charge. It would keep reseting and such. THEN when I eventually began to use the stock battery it would restart as well but it would still charge. I discovered this to be because the battery was moving just a little out of place so it wouldnt stay connected properly. To fix this I took a little piece of rubber and placed it inbetween the battery and the battery door. Since then I've purchased an official extended battery that works fantastic.

I've had the phone for about a month and I guess it has restarted about 3 times. Usually when I've been playing around with it. The battery life is appalling though, although it has improved over time. I was auto syncing the phone over bluetooth at work, but I've now stopped doing it as I was getting max 8 hours standby out of the battery - and to be honest I barely used the phone for calls in those hours.

So I've disabled bluetooth and battery life has gone up to about 2 days of standby with a few hours of calls. All in all not too impressed and especially as bluetooth is all but unusable. I'm considering trying to return it to O2 as it isn't fit for purpose, but they'll probably tell me to sod off as I've had it for too long..so I guess the only other option is wait for a software update...
