    - load up phone as "other cdma phone"
    - view filesystem
    - navigate to /brew/mod/jbed/installed
    - save selector.utf to your computer
    - open up selector.utf with a UTF capable text editor (NOT notepad, i use textpad. get it at textpad.com)

    you will see a bunch of variables and their values. this will include a section for each of your games.

    I.E. i had a game called Townsmen 2:

    suite=Townsmen 2, \
    icon=/icon.png, \
    vendor=www.handy-games.com GmbH, \
    root=s2_, \
    num=1, \
    preinstalled=N, \
    removable=Y, \
    domain=midp1, \
    install_time=1196380220080
    midlet=Townsmen 2, \
    icon=/icon.png, \
    class=Townsmen2

    change the preinstalled variable to N and make sure that the removable variable is Y

    - save the file and upload it to your phone.

    next time you load up into the games or tools menu, you will be able to remove the game through the phones standard interface. (highlight the game --> menu --> remove. )

    tada.

    i would just like to thankyou nkoplm! you solved my problem and it worked great! dont know how you figured it out, but it worked. great job.

    Thanks nkoplm!

    Now I don't uderstand why when I install any games (off line) they will appear under tools (not games) for some reason. Anyhow, can I just edit the selector.utf file to put games sunder the right section to fix my problem?

    Thanks again!

    which file would I edit to disable (remove) tools/apps from the list..

    I want to clean up the menu a little bit, and I dont require such things as the incar setup, network, bluetooth, etc.. and is there a way to make them invisible?

    has anyone tried using an actual video for a wallpaper yet, or is this just not possible at all.. I know the newer LGs can.

    No, but been succesfull so far with P2KSeem710. Most known RAZR seem edits do work on the w385, but I have no clue for your specific needs.

    You can read more about this apps over here : http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...hreadid=457173

    How to Change Front LCD screen

    here's how you Change the front LCD screen of a W385.(Please tell me if someone has already posted this.)
    1. go to p2kcommander

    2. plug the usb cord into your phone.

    3. after p2kcommander has settled and detected your phone, go to a/mobile and there should be two gifs, moto.gif(which is the original motorola front LCD) and for me, a verizon.gif (verizon's crappy front LCD), your's might be a telus or something else. ignore all of the folders. you will need to copy the moto.gif to someplace you can remember. you may also want to make a copy of the original gif.

    4.after you have copied the gif(s) go to the place where you have saved the moto.gif. an right click it and press edit. all you have to do now is save it somewhere else as (for me, verizon.gif, will be different on phones, just name it as the original file like telus.gif) if you use paint, save it as a gif, then go to the folder you saved it in and make the.GIF lowercase(.gif).

    5.after editing the name, go back to p2kcommander and find the file you just saved and overwrite the original .gif, but keep the moto.gif as a backup. after you have overwritten the file, restart you phone and watch the front LCD say motorola instead of the old front LCD pic. you can do this with whatever word you want, just name it as the original file.

    OK. so I got my Wife a W385 this week, and i told her I can put ringtones on and stuff, so she'll be happy with her new phone..

    I got everything to work great by reading this thread and trying some things.. lots of good info here..

    A tip for those of you who are having problems connecting to the phone, I was using p2kcommander, but in order for it to see the phone I had to open RSD Lite first, and Click 'Show Device' once RSD Lite see's the phone, you can close it and then open P2KCommander and choose the "P2K Mobile Phone" and it should work.. every time I disconnect the phone I seem to have to do this with RSD Lite, but it works and it's not too hard..

    I used a free program I found with Google called WavePad to cut the length of the mp3's down to a good 25-35sec clip, saved as mp3 bitrate of 96kbps, then transfered it to the Audio Directory on the phone.. /a/motorola/shared/audio .... Just put the mp3's in there.. then went back to /a/ and deleted the 2 DB files, restart phone and go to your ringtones and they are there.. you can also delete any of the Lame Tones that were already on the phone from that /Audio dir to save some space...

    Also, you can view, save and delete wallpaper and/or camera pics from the /a/motorola/shared/picture dir.. saves you having to E-Mail the pics you took on the phone to yourself..

    I changed telus.gif to a pic of my wifes name that's all written nicely that someone made her with Photoshop. It looks pretty sweet on the front display..

    This will also work with Motorola Software Update. Same procedure, and yes you have to load it first each time you want to run P2k softwares.

    I am looking to upgrade but will only do so to this phone if it can be hacked for backgrounds and ring tones.

    So let me see if I have this correct. Hack the phone as if it was a RAZR (I've done this before).

    Then Remove the two files (TmpTneDB.db and MyToneDB.db).... is this really nesesary?

    Then Use MPT as usuall by selecting the Motorola CDMA V6c

    Is that it? Am I missing anything?

    This is what I did, I just added the .mp3 songs into my phone using MPT than I exit that program, restarted my phone than I used P2K Commander to delete the TmpTneBD.db and MyToneDB.db files (dont worry your TmpTneBD.db and MyToneDB.db files will restore on its own) than just restart your phone and its there.
