    National 3G Maps

It was in the Staff Report released by the FCC at the conclusion of the AT&T T-Mobile debacle. How much more proof do you need?

The problem is that AT&T never announced it that way, they announced this:

Additionally, the company said it has completed its deployment of HSPA+ to virtually 100 percent of its mobile broadband network which enables 4G speeds when combined with Ethernet or fiber backhaul.
    http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pi...rticleid=31477

Keywords: Mobile Broadband in which EDGE is not considered a part of from all that I ever saw because it is only 2G, and 2G isn't mobile broadband.

Their announcement really only referred to deploying HSPA+ to 100% of HSPA network. I think that only ever happened on the air interface though.

I've never seen any announcement that specifically stated they were going to deploy HSPA to all GSM areas. However in the leaked version of that FCC document that has the confidential information intact (in which i have a copy of somewhere) had a line which AT&T stated they had the intent to to deploy HSPA to all 2G areas. I'm not going to try and find it, it is highlighted in the forums somewhere. However that was confidential and was not to be known and prior to all this merger stuff.

Now I'm not trying to be an ***...however I have never seen this announcement that you guys speak of because it never existed. That FCC document is not an announcement, it's only referring to an actual PR at&t released, and doing so incorrectly. However u can kinda blame AT&T for being a little tricky with terms.

And for EDGE not being mobile broadband you can refer to this:
    see: http://www.wireless.att.com/coverage...pUp_legend.jsp

4G LTE: Long Term Evolution. These areas represent AT&T's fastest mobile Internet speeds. You'll know you're in our LTE coverage area when the 4G LTE network indicator appears next to the signal bars on your device. 4G LTE capable device required. If you are outside our LTE coverage area, you can still access services using our other 4G and 3G mobile broadband, and 2G networks where mobile broadband is not available. Learn more about 4G LTE.

4G: 4G Mobile Broadband - These areas represent AT&T's owned 4G HSPA+ network with enhanced backhaul. AT&T's 4G HSPA+ network is capable of delivering 4G speeds when combined with enhanced backhaul. Learn more about 4G.

3G: 3G Voice and 3G Mobile Broadband Data coverage is available in most metropolitan areas. 3G capable device and eligible rate plan required. However like all coverage it can and will be adversely affected by distance from cell site, weather, foliage, tower congestion and other factors. You'll know you're in our 3G coverage area when the 3G network indicator appears beside the signal bars on your phone. If you are outside our 3G coverage area, you can still access services using our EDGE network. Learn more about 3G.

2G (EDGE): These areas represent AT&T's owned GSM network providing EDGE - Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution coverage. Advanced mobile services like video and music clips, full picture & video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the move are possible. Learn more about our technology.

I'm sorry, but in your previous posts you did not ask for proof of an announcement. You simply said multiple times that no such announcement has ever been made and refused to acknowledge that I was talking about service in Oklahoma and not nationwide. Since you have now asked, the fact is that the statement was made by Area Retail Sales Manager for Oklahoma City and western Oklahoma Rick Reed at a public event in Woodward, Oklahoma on November 11, 2010, announcing the upgrade of 4 sites in the city of Woodward to 3G.

At the public meeting, put on by the Woodward Chamber of Commerce, Reed announced the upgrade of those 4 sites and added that AT&T would be upgrading the rest of the 2G/EDGE area in northwest Oklahoma by the end of 2012, that these 4 sites were the first steps in that upgrade. Director of Sales for Oklahoma, Lora Laird, who was also at the meeting said AT&T was making great strides on 3G upgrades and that AT&T had plans to have the rest of their 2G sites in all of Oklahoma upgraded to 3G by the same time. This was all before AT&T began calling 3G "4G" and before any LTE had been launched in the state. Company representatives speaking on behalf of AT&T at a public event announcing an upgrade constitutes an announcement, promise, outlook, whatever you want to call it, to me. If you disagree, too bad. I never described it as an official PR from corporate AT&T.

Whether these two people had any right to speak for AT&T I do not know. Woodward Chamber of Commerce President Ira Smith credited State Sen. Bryce Marlatt and State Rep. Mike Sanders with helping bring the 3G network to Woodward. Fact is, it took pressure from those two and the state legislature to get those 4 sites upgraded to 3G or they would probably still be 2G/EDGE now for the city of 13,000 people. Not one of the rest of AT&T's sites in this quadrant of the state have been upgraded since then. Maybe the state legislature should get involved once again.

I'd get on the phone with Bryce Marlatt and Mike Sanders.

That said, kind of amazingly, I'm considering a switch back to the Death Star. Just tired of VZW's sad decline here in Chester.

I tried Verizon in my area and they didn't meet my expectations so I use AT&T, who does meet my expectations. Would I've liked to use Verizon, sure. Am I mad they don't work right here, no. I did get better, with AT&T.
