Does anyone have the the old AT&T charter plan? It was the original AT&T Mmode $99 unlimited voice and $24 unlimited data plan that has not been offered for more than 5 years. I am not sure what version the SIM is, but it is GSM and the SIM I have will even connect to the current AT&T 3G 'UMTS/HSDPA' using a ExpressCard in my MacBook.
I have just unlocked my iPhone using the GeoHot method, and Calls / SMS work GREAT! However when I try to use the EDGE network i.e Safari/GoogleMaps/Youtube, it says "Cannot connect to EDGE"
I know there is supposed to be a APN setting, but I do not have that in the General/Network settings.
I show the blue square 'E' next to the network logo.

Help
.... sounds like you need the 'old' ATT APN settings; not the new ones.

Haven't checking in on this forum in a while....I too have the $99 unlimited minutes plan, and refuse to give it up! I'm still using an old AT&T Wireless SIM; are you saying it's possible to software unlock the iPhone so that my AT&T Wireless SIM will work? Or is the GeoHot method one of the "SIM clone" tricks?
edit: NM, the "GeoHot method" is the hardware soldering one (well, according to the blog you don't have to solder any more...) I'm still waiting for a proper SIM unlock that doesn't require any hardware modifications.
that is definatly what i am personally waiting for, is the software unlock. I ran out like a nut when the press release was announced about the 299 for the 4gb and immediately snapped one up at the Att store. I managed to get the last one so the agent said. I am eager to hack it and start this whole ordeal but i have it still in the packaging. I kinda want to wait to see how this is going with the software unlock and whether or not i should find somone in the chicago area that is williing to confidently perform a hardware unlock for a reasonable price. I too also have a former ATTWS plan i like to use the iphone with.
yeah i have the same deal got my iphone today as a matter of fact.... just seems stupid that i have to unlock a device to work on my own network!!! HA HA HA but that is what keeps me from going orange no wait new blue!! LONG LIVE THE 99 Unlimited plan!
to the op: have you got apn settings yet?? if you dont here is what i have from my old motorola. so the settings are there but all the data is from a motorola so some things you have to enter in some you do not. since my iphone is still in its packageing i cant access the same menus you see yet.

Another blue customer here. Can anyone confirm that those mmode settings will work on iPhone? Also, I don't currently have mmode service but it looks like the website will allow me to add unlimited mmode for $24.99/month. Will this be sufficient?
Well as soon as the sw unlock comes out for the iphone then i will be unboxing it and setting it up. Until then, those are the settings that i had that worked on all my other phones i dont see why they wont work on an iphone. It wont be the same setup or format to follow but all the information to set it up and give it a shot is there.
I don't understand your question, Elfreshcuh, and typing in all caps isn't necessary.
but I think the answer is yes, provided you use Jailbreak and activate the iPhone using the method I linked to. It will allow you to use any AT&T SIM, not just the one that came with the iPhone.
