This will not give you the edge menu. And you must have the mmode data plan.
wow.. all that for just edge to be enabled? honestly I didn't do all that, just reconfigured the proxy and deleted the other "cingular" settings and I use it on AT&T blue in NorCal as well. but thanks for sharing for those who haven't gotten it

I have gotten the internet service through EDGE with the settings that you all put out there. But my Mail or my You Tube still isnt working. Can you all provide some assistance. When I try to activate my Yahoo account through the Mail Icon- I get an error message about account not found using imap.apple.yahoo?????.
I don't believe email and youtube problem have anything to do with the edge settings, google them you'll find plenty of solutions.

i've posted this plea for help several times this week. i can't imagine that no one else has this issue but i've tried everything and i'm at my wits end!! i too have an at&t "blue" sim with an unlimited mmode plan. after unlocking, neither EDGE or WiFi was working. this thread DID help me get EDGE working by modifying the preference.plist file per post #22 but ONLY AFTER turning WiFi to the off position (found that hint somewhere else while researching). i then further modified the preference.plist file and added the proxy.pac file per post #45 - this had no effect. EDGE still works with WiFi off, and WiFi still doesn't work at all. As long as WiFi is set to the off position EVERYTHING works via EDGE (youtube, weather, safari, etc.). what am i missing here? my phone DOES find my network and connects to it AND, i've had friends here with "locked" phones and they connect AND browse through my network with NO PROBLEM. i've also tried this at other wireless hotspots, so it is definitely not my router... does ANYONE know how i can get WiFi working???
mfp. During the process of unlocking, did you turn your wifi on? Which method of unlocking did you use?
phattbam THANK YOU for responding!! i unlocked using the method in this thread. i started with it brand new out of the box. i just re-read the instructions and don't see anything about turning on wifi, so i'm sure i didn't. i followed the instructions to the letter and didn't experience anything unusual.

mfp, you have PM... do some research on how to load 1.02 before you try anything. because the new update is out and will most likely load onto your iPhone.

you may have to do it all over again because something may have corrupted your wi fi settings. I would call apple support and let them know your wi-fi is not working to see if they can troubleshoot it rater than just referring you to update the firmware. I do believe that there is a place to get the 1.02 firmware again so you can then redo the whole process to try it again. but make sure you can get the 1.02 firmware and not upgrade to the 1.1, because as you know that will not work at all. I did all the steps you did and got it all to work except for the edge which I did by deleting the cingulat, wifi had to work for the unlocking so it was working then, so I believe you may have by accident altered something else when doing the text editing. Just my opinion, but good luck.

I too was having the same problem connecting to WI-FI/EDGE and You tube once I recieved my unlocked Iphone. I purchased my Iphone from a seller off of E-Bay and he helped me get everything straight. Because of the MMode Data Plan that I have on my phone, there was an extra step in the Files that he had me to add along with the Preference file. Once I uploaded that file, my internet service was working my I couldnt get my Yahoo mail to push to my phone. After calling Apple, I had to restore my Iphone and upload all of the files again. The IBrickr to activate the phone, the modified Preference file, the Pacay for the Youtube and once I got everything back on my phone, everything on the IPHONE was working- WIFI/EDGE, YouTube and Yahoo. So now my Iphone is working perfect!! If you need me to send you the files, I will send you the link that someone sent me. But you may need to do a restore on your phone, thats what did it for me.
