Iphone UK user - Some quick questions

Hi all

Quick questions.

I am in the UK.

I have a Buddy on holiday at the moment in Las vegas.. had a brainwave and asked him to grab me an Iphone to bring home.. $399 seems resonable.

1. Can he walk into any AT&T shop and buy one of the shelf without a contract? does that bit happen at home when activating or summut? (seems radioshack and such no stock iphones)

2. Iphone updates - Are these updates likely to stop unlocked iphones from operting? kinda like sony and the PSP update saga.?

3. It seems everything needs to be done through Ituneswith auto updates.. can you choose to never update ur iphone?

1) yes... if they give him any hassle (which they won't) tell them you're buying it as a gift.

2) remains to be seen... just don't be the first to update without checking the forums.

3) itunes yes, and you don't have to update at all, just turn off the auto update preference.
