I hate to say this but Jessica Hodges doesnt know what she's talking about so if you had any questions that is one person you would NOT want to talk to, i've found that out myself.

Hi, noob here, but I have actually talked to a couple of folks at CS that have told me the same. We have a number of folks on 7130e's who are anxiously awaiting its arrival. It should be available 30-45 days. I think it's the 8130 variant of the Pearl.

Been reading that Verizon may be coming out with the BB Curve. Hopefully CS will follow in the next year.

I did the above last week for my BB8830 and I do get the 1XEV in the top right corner most of the time. Has anyone else with the 8830 experienced any problem with battery life since the *228 update. My battery life immediately was cut in half.

When you reload the system it resets everything back to factory defaults. I wonder how often it goes online? Does the online radio stay on all the time on a blackberry? Could also be that the battery gage reset. You may have to run it all the way down so it knows what empty really is and can read correctly. I've had that happen with my old 6700. If i rebooted at half a battery it thought it was full when it came back online and showed it was down quicker. The only fix was to let it run until it shut off and fully recharge to let the gage re-calibrate.
    Hope some of this helps.

Sorry gang...been really busy and didnt see this. I did the *228 in my office at the corner of front street and Beale, right on the river. The EV icon displayed immediately.

Does anyone know why the blackberry GPS will not work on my 8830? I cant get it to work on the blackberry maps at all...It always says 'searching for GPS satellites'. Did CS not enable this?

And yes, I did make sure GPS was enabled in the setup menu :-)

This really doesnt cut it for me, Verizon just announced that you could bring other carriers phones onto their network so my question is "what really is behind all of this" besides Cell South wanting us to purchase their overpriced equipment.
    Any suggestions or comments?

I too would love to know why CS does this. A CDMA Phone is a CDMA Phone, and if it is NOT Locked then all you have to is program the SID, MID, and MDN then do an ESN change.

just thought id share that we might see some new alabama expansion in the coming year i would think. audiovox was showing off some new phones at CES with AWS 1700Mhz band on it which is what CS won in the spectrum auction auction (for birmingham and mobile i think) a while back when T-Mobile won a bunch of spectrum as well. It sucks that selection of phones would be limited to UT Starcom crap but it is competition and there wouldnt be too much congestion on the network so who knows. any ideas?

I think that the only part of Alabama we will see this year is the path from Hwy 82 at the Mississippi State line to Tuscaloosa, AL then I-20 back to the Mississippi State line. All of the metro area of Tuscaloosa, AL will be added with this. This will be done with the the 1900MHz they got last year in Tuscaloosa . They do need to cover the market before Cricket does in that College town. I do not think that they will cover the rest of Alabama until the 700MHz auction is over. Lets hope that they win a lot of Mississippi and Alabama.

i was unaware that they had gotten that 1900 spectrum. i figured all that spectrum had been used up already. what areas in MS does CS use 1900 for because i have only seen 850 around here from what iv seen.

Is there any hope that Cellular South will be getting the Moto Q Music? They already carry Moto Q, so why not Moto Q music? I'd buy an unlocked one, but they won't activate it. I know it's a CDMA phone, so it makes NO SENSE to me. Anyway, does anyone know if they are even testing or considering this phone?
    Thanks,
    Allison

I haven't heard anything about the moto q. I've heard there were a few new blackberry devices coming and maybe a new device from htc/audiovox. in the past i've noticed they follow alltel by a couple of months on releases.
