    Best Freeware

    The old Freeware Thread was becoming a bit long. Many apps were either outdated or obsolete so I'm starting a new thread.

    Remember this is for FREEWARE, not shareware, trialware or any application that costs money to get the full function (cripleware).

    Most importantly NO WAREZ. Sorry folks there are no warnings on this one.

    Please keep the chatter out of this thread so that people can post (with links to the developer's site) about the apps without the comments.

    Calcium Calculator from mtVoid

    Calcium is a fast, easy to use calculator for your S60 phone

    Getting tired of the S60 calculator? We were, so we made our own. Using some of the concepts that make ControlFreak so easy to use, we removed the need to select on-screen buttons and moved all the operations to the joystick. Doing basic calculations on your phone is now only a couple of clicks away.
    So how fast is it?

    Try this simple example: start the standard calculator and do 2/3 x 7. It takes 13 clicks. Using Calcium it only takes 6!
    Best of all, it's free..

    1) London Tube Map by Alebic (uses Flash lite, included)
    http://thetube.alebic.net/
    execellent piece of freeware. My one peeve is that outside central London this maps omits/skips over a few stations. I think the developer should demo this for the London Tube authorities and have them sponsor him to make a better on for free distribution.

    2) Map24 Mobile
    www.map24.com/ (click on "Map24 Mobile" link at left side of page)
    I find this to bemore responsive in speed and better user interface than Google maps. You can also navigate favorites online and navigate to them right away.

    3) mWeather
    www.ubahnstation.net/mweather/
    This is free but a bit buggy. I ended up paying for HandyWeather instead, but if you are not too picky, mWeather is quite decent and its data usage is less than HandyWeather. If the developer would just take this up one notch while keeping it freeare, I think HandyWeather would have a problem finding customers.

    Someone already mentioned thee "Calcium" calculator above. I just want to reitierate that this is one of the most elegantly designed pieces of feeware I have seen on any mobile platform. Simple, beautiful and does what it does, well. I bow down to the developer on that one.

    HF4: Post deleted. This is exactly the crap that you SHOULDN'T post in this thread. If you're not adding a application then don't post in this thread. Moreover don't quote an entire post to add one comment about a small section of another post. You shouldn't do that in the forum in general but especially in this thread.

    ActiveFile: http://developer.symbian.com/wiki/di...ols/ActiveFile

    From the developer's website:

    "Here are some key features of ActiveFile(File Explorer for S60 2nd Edition & 3rd Edition):

    * File management with 2 panels(File manager similar to Total Commander). so, you can view one folder in the first tab and browse to another folder in the second tab
    * File sorting by name, extention, uid, size, date, and ascending, descending
    * Full file management with copy, move, rename, delete, make directory, make file, file properties, and set attributes
    * Compress and decompress file using gzip format
    * Modify the attributes of files and directories
    * Quick check of available storage on your drives
    * Allow multiple instances. So, you can launch ActiveFile more than 1 instance.
    * Searching thru the directories
    * View running processes, tasks, kernel objects, and display system information(phone info and network info)
    * SMS creator tool to create SMS(fake SMS) and save it to a destination folder(Inbox, Drafts, Outbox, Sent folder) without used your sim card credit
    * Capture screenshot and save it to a file in JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG, and MBM format
    * Memory monitor tool
    * Have an option to access inbox files
