My Ambicom bluetooth dongle is finally playing nice with my 3650. I have a busy morning and afternoon today, but I will post more specific details later this evening.

Ok, so the Ambicom BT-2000 USB dongle is working great now. The following took me at least 10 hours of time to figure out. Here is the situation as I understand it:

    • Ambicom ships their dongle with software that will not work with the Nokia phone. It was weird reading all the advice here and over at my-symbian because my software had slightly different names for the functions. It was clear that something funny was going on here. Friday afternoon I broke down and called Ambicom tech support only to have him tell me flat out that their dongle "would not work with PC Suite for Nokia" software.

    • After I put the dongle back in it's original packaging, ready to return it to Fry's, I found this post: http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopi...ghlight=dongle - I downloaded the driver mentioned in the post, uninstalled the Nokia PC Suite software for good luck and installed the Tecom drivers. The Tecom drivers look and sound just like the drivers in other descriptions of how to make this work...

    • Then I followed the excellent instructions: http://deviceadvice.info/phone/nokia/7650/howto/

Bluetooth is working great here now. I'm backing up, installing, downloading images just fine. I hope these instructions will help someone out there get setup with less hassle than it took me to get it going.

I'm happy to answer any other questions or explain better if I am not making sense...

I took a quick read... interesting.

For my bt dongle, it was much easier. I just install the software, detect the phone, and everything was ready to go, no software suite install needed. (it's made by penblue, got it off ebay... suppose to have 40 meters range...)

I bought that same Ambicom one a day before my 3650 arrived, got home, read it didnt work on another forum, and returned it the next day (2 hours before the 3650 came) for the belkin model that does 333 feet rather than 30 feet. So I had the belkin before the 3650 even came, and bluetooth was working within 5 minutes of turning on the phone.

Post this should be a sticky

The link to the drivers and the instructions are useful enough that this thread should be made a sticky.

This forum is not officially moderated AFAIK, but if anyone knows how to accomplish this I think it will help a lot of people.

Anyheard of a brand called "Epox" for Bluetooth (BT) USB Adapters. The way that Frys electronic advertises it makes it sound like a "cheapie".

    Here's a link:

    Hello All,

I was able to successfully configure my bluetooth connection using D-link bluetooth adapter. Installation was very easy. I didnot find any issue.

There are few questions after doing bluetooth connection.

    1) Can I pair up my 3650 with my office pc + my home pc + my Toshiba PDA ?

    2) I'm unable to send image files from phone to my PC using bluetooth but I was able to send contact from my phone to home pc. Also I was able to send note & email from my homepc to 3650. Why I am not able to send image files from 3650 to my home pc. I've not yet installed nokia pc suite on my machine.
