    First of all, if Alltel were to eliminate the MIR, and just give the discounts that are shown with no hoops or hurdles, we would get more people in the store getting two years. No joke.     Another thing that, in my personal opinion would make Alltel #1 across the board and almost force Alltel to go Nationwide, would be a Nokia/Alltel exclusive agreement for CDMA N-Series phones. Make a CDMA N95/96 our flagship phone. Get things like the N81, or the N76 in the marketplace to battle other high end phones like the RAZR2. or ROKR. Especially since Motorola is looking to exit the handset business all together. We can keep screwing the pooch on handsets. But at the same time, low end Nokia handsets wouldn't be a bad thing either. People would flock back from AT&T, T-Mo, Sprint and VZW in droves (at least in my market they would...). Its not like Nokia is fighting patent lawsuits anymore, or fighting chipset makers anymore.

    (Any S60 device would be amazing, imo. And why mess up a S60 device with BREW and Celltop? That would be a sin.)

    Am I wrong to think that these are realistic things that could happen? Am I delusional to think that Alltel has the potential to become one of the biggest carriers next to VZW or AT&T by doing things that don't conform to every other carrier? Yes, we have the network, now lets get some high-end, stylish yet functional and useable hardware.

    that would be the number one thing alltel needs to change is them stupid mail in rebates like you said LOL. i hate making sure i have everything i need to send it in. and last time i sent it in they tried saying i didnt put the UPC on it but i did. i sent some pretty nasty emails saying how could i send the UPC when i already sent it to you? i made copies of everything and then they just made me fax a copy of the packing slip which i know was in there also!!!. they do everything they can to screw you out of the mail in rebate. if they would just sell phones for cheaper or have actual decent phones for free or like 50 bucks max to new people it would get alot of new customers. i think that in the future bluetooth and memory card slots everything thats on higher end phones nowdays will become more standard. after a while technology is just going to get better and better so there wouldnt be a reason not to put that stuff in it. i bet in like 5 years or so at least every phone will have a camera, bluetooth, memory card slot, etc. maybe not but i dont see why that couldnt be with how technology is advancing everyday.

    one thing good...heard from the conference alltel is exponentially increasing its expenditure for phones in 08.....although i heard more toward smarthphones than anything....

    I just saw the glimmer (brochure) and i think I might replace my Pearl with it.

    What kind of Smartphones will they bring? Are there really that many CDMA Smartph... wait, lets use the Alltel term, Smart Devices, that we dont know about?

    Sure, the Centro.... and the Q9... but what else?

    havent caught wind of any, but alltel reaffirmed their dedication to data...(whats new)....i guess we'll see whats to come.....

    on another note,
    there is an important vendor meeting in our area this comming tues. I was JUST told by my manager TODAY, friday, that if i didn't go, I would be required to WORK that day. I am scheduled OFF that day, and have been for the past month and a half. I told him I have plans and WILL NOT WORK or GO TO THE MEETING, nicely of course. I told him, if we are required to give 30 days notice for days off, {as he has informed us before} I require 30 days notice for any changes done to my schedule.
    he kept heckling me about it, and i finally just stated, at this point in time this conversation is over, if you want to fire me, that is your decision.

    anyone think I'M in the wrong here?

    one thing i heard from the conference, as stated before was more and better smartphones. also...im not so sure about this idea, but, prepaid smartphones and data cards...

    Imagine the chargebacks on the prepay smartphones or data cards! I could sell a few but not really sure how long they can keep it. thast going to be good and bad.

    Just a comission question for the reps. I have noticed a few times in the past few months that I have been getting charged-back for the 7.50 on a pay per day. BUT when I go look at the line it still has the pay per day with the text. I have emailed ops support but I have not gotten a response. Anyone else notice this??

    No, but even my manager will surprise us with bogus meetings like that and no one shows up. Literally, an entire store not showing up, so we quit doing it. Either that or if he gets too drunk, or his kid is "sick" he will cancel them and not tell everyone, like our Friday meetings.

    I love the idea of prepaid Smart Devices (come on people, Alltel certified wording here! ) and Dumb... er... Data Cards. That means that I can pick Smart Devices up without retail cost

    Can't wait for the Glimmer, seriously, I think it could be a contender (if priced right, obviously).

    yeah i did before...but not with the new prepaid enhancement...

    before...if a customer was on .75 cent/day with text and went to 1.25 day plan you were automatically charged back for text and the new rep got the data. i kept up with that and did corrections in MAGNYS for it.

    now, since the pay per day amount is determined by what you select in eSPA, not by just changing the class of service in CCC, i haven't seen any. (as far as just the 7.50 text feature)

    i still keep up with prepaid and cross check every chargeback! and if its invalid, i do a correction, and if they don't accept the correction, i follow up with ops support

    How many locations are using the new insurance repalcement process?? not wanting to give out too much info on this because I don't want customers flaming the reps.

    just have the customer request 2nd day delivery

    Were not in the trial, but I know if we were it would be like RTI, rarely used.
