    Anonymous Call Rejection

While looking at the Farmers Wireless site after responding to another thread, I see that they offer Anonymous Call Rejection as an optional feature.

    http://www.farmerswireless.com/featu...s/features.htm

This is something that I don't believe any of the national carriers do, yet a little local carrier in the northeast corner of Alabama has it.

I'd love to hear from AT&T as to why Farmers Wireless can offer this, yet they can't seem to do it, especially for a feature that gets asked about as much as this one does.

No, but it would be nice if the major carriers offered us more safety/security/personal features.

They charge extra for what the other carriers include in their basic packages:
    Call Waiting $0.99
    Caller ID $0.99
    Voicemail $1.99
    Roaming $0.35 per minute

They seem to include those on the main lines of plans $39.99 and above. But I'd probably pay extra for ACR if it were available.

I have Anonymous Call Rejection on my landline and it does not do what I hoped. The junk phone callers report "out of area" or spoof a telephone number. It does offer some discipline to ordinary folks, though!

not sure if this is the issue, but it might cost a whole lot more $$ and sweat equity to build that into a larger network than a small rural one. Just a guess though...

The cellular companies just dont get it. They know people have primary cell phones, but do want to bring cellphones up the level of landlines. Anonymous call rejection is another example. My personal favorite is caller-id, why cant they have caller-id with name on cellphones ?

On my home line I have something called "Privacy Manager" and that handles "out of area" calls as well.

I believe sony ericsson phones have a menu item to reject anonymous callers, it may be hidden in AT&T branded firmware but I could swear it's there, i'd check but I gave my w810i as a gift and my mom refuses to give it back, even if i offer to pay for it in full :P
