Was at the Sandisk sponsored Linkin Park concert a few weeks back.

All of these pics were taken at 1/80, f2.8, iso 1600 with a 70-200 f2.8 IS on a Canon 300D (digital rebel) plus a 580ex flash with the flash exposure set from 0 to -2 (varies from shot to shot).

Oh you lucky dog. They're an amazing live band!! I saw them back on the Projekt Revolution tour, but didn't have a camera. I really like the last one of Mike. Nice pics.

+1 about the 70-200 2.8 IS. Hella sweet lens.

So does this mean we get some frog pics too?

Great pics and a great band.
I often find myself having to sing a few of their songs when i go to karaoke. (Of course I end up doing the singing parts and not so much the "rapping or rythm parts")

Here's some more info on how I shot the pictures:

The pics were taken inside a club (the keyclub in hollywood) with typical club lighting. It was really dark, with light machines. I was standing maybe 40 or 50 ft from the stage.

    f/2.8, 1/80, ISO 1600

I left the camera in manual mode. I could have gone with a faster shutter speed on the wider shots but that would not help freeze the action since the band members move around a lot.

f/2.8: left it as wide as I could

ISO 1600: if the camera had a higher ISO setting I would have used it. I probably should have ran these pics through an unsharpen filter.

I found that if I varied the flash's output I could capture more of the ambient lighting. If you fire the flash at full power it would take out the ambient lighting and make it look like they're just performing in a normally lit room which makes for very uninteresting pictures.

I would have shot in burst mode but a) my camera is 4 yrs old and very slow, b) my cf card was almost full

what also helps is: aperture controls flash power ( larger f stop weaker flash power) and shutter speed controls ambient (slower shutter speed lets in more ambient light.)
