Bricked is an expression used to define a phone that has ben rendered useless - ie a brick. Usually happens when one hacks it to death

Generally a brick is a phone that either won't turn on, won't connect to a network or function as a phone (make or receive calls or sms )

Jailbeaking means being able to add third party apps, change graphics, sounds, etc.

Unlocking refers to being able to use the phone on other wireless networks (T-Mobile, etc.).

And, yes, you can jailbreak your phone without unlocking it.

    Hope that helps

Bricking is a term used for all cell phones

Jailbreaking is the hack that gives you write access to an iPhone. Thats a term specific to the iPhones/iPods

Unlocked means able to use other carriers aside from AT&T, in the case of the iPhone. Unlocking any phone means basicly the same thing: A phone that has had the carrier restriction removed

iPhones have 2 different sets of code. The "Software" is the OS that runs the phone. In this case, version 1.1.1 or 1.0.2

The Firmware is the version of the baseband radio, either 3.x or 4.x

An iPhone can be jailbroken but not unlocked, correct. You have to perform a jailbreak before you can unlock however.

    Is the mud thinning?
