I found that a couple of times as well, but when I ignored it, it then gave me the correct directions. Could drive me nuts though if the above happened.

2.0 is kinda weird. It has sent me down roads to do a U-Turn, and even told me it was going to do that. Recently it had me exit the freeway one exit earlier than optimal and then took me between major roads via tiny gravel ones, even though there were major cross-roads available. Eventually it gets me there, but sometimes it's a rollercoaster/adventure.

Does google maps use GPS or Data from the network??
It uses data to download the maps. If you have a N95 or a Nokia phone with built-in GPS, it will also use GPS to inform you of your location. However, the actual downloading of the maps is done entirely through data which you access either through a WiFi spot or through your cellular service provider's data service.Originally Posted by kbasanti

I consider myself a pretty smart guy ... particularly when it comes to techie stuff. However, my recent foray in attempting to update Google Mobile Maps has me caught me looking.
So i uninstall Google Maps which was running great on my phone but i wanted the newer version for a variety of reasons. I go to m.google.com/maps on my phone and to google.com/gmm and all i get is a round and round circle of nothingness. I am never presented with a link to download the appelet. am i missing something. is there a way to download it on my desktop and tranfer it as a cab directy to thephone so i dont have to go through this?

becuase bad things happen to good people ...
dont go to the m.google site. i just go right to www.google.com on my phone browser. then there is a maps link, and that takes me right to download google maps.

I finally decided to try nokia maps for 1 year (at 109$) and it seem to work very well.
i would like to know is there a gps with POI and not using data connection?
so what's the most popular one...
i really like nokia maps so far...more than garmin
It is from my understanding that once you download Nokia maps onto your phone, it does not use data right? I am having the hardest time with the E71. Any advice?
