Are S500i's safe to buy now?

I still see people with their phones purchased over week (26?), the week that was considered safe to buy s500i's again... But i see people still talking about cracking keypads... I want to move on from my K790a (due to brother keeps hogging it), are they 100% safe now? if not 85% safe?

I want to get the black S500i, I'm impressed over the season, time, w/e theme changes. ^_^

You know--You're right !! The debate//which week/ which color...s500 or w580..has subsided..no updates or experiences. I'll say that the w580 phone is at my local Radio Shack...Sony style...Sams club...Has a final verdict been reached ? Go or no go ?

Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but I've had a W38 S500i for a few weeks now and so far no problems.

it doesnt really matter what week it is cuz SE still hasnt change their design of the keypads at all. i have people that got it week 1 from the storei got at and have no problems at all and some people that got it just recently have the cracked keypad.

so basically this phone is a failure and should be avoided at all costs when shopping for a phone?

yes if you dont want to take a risk. i have a w580 and it perfectly fine. the keypad still will work after its cracked and when its cracked its hardly noticable. so doesnt really matter with me.

I bought my 580 from Sony Style about a month ago and haven't had any problems with the keypad at all, aside from a little flexing, the back doesn't fit properly though..and thats really annoying...

imo just because you bought the phone recently doesn't mean it was made recently. Some stores might be still selling the phones shipped to them from awhile ago.. I guess it's best to buy from sony style.. I've had the AT&T branded version for almost 2 month now and no keypad problems, even though I text a lot and play a lot of games on it.. heck I even beat guitar legend (guitar hero on mobile) without any keypad problems.

well for my store we always sell out the shipment first before we ship more in so our shipment is the most recent. i have seen more keypad problems with recent ones than the ones that first came out.
but keypad problem happens to really few ppl. for every 20 we sell maybe only 1 person gets it.

Just remember, your always taking a chance with this phone. Also, the warranty service takes 14-21 BUSINESS DAYS.

Other than that, a nice phone.

I got off my flight one day (about a month ago) and the keypad was cracked down but only on the 2 and 8 keys. I'm pretty annoyed even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with my handset right now. Because of this little imperfection I'm about to pick up a Blackberry Curve 8310. Still a nice phone though but I was pretty shocked after I got off the plane.
