For Proxy 1, I am pretty confident that mine said Read/Write. (Also, Proxy 2, but Proxy 2 says Read/Write in the screen shot, so I'm not worried about any bad effects there.)
Proxy 1 is the standard/default Verizon setup.. I am sure it was READ ONLY... if its read/write.. then you could DELETE the VZW web session from the phone via the phone's menus...

It all worked out in the end, but depending on how noob friendly you want your guide to be, if it's standard for those buttons to stay highlighted, you might want to just mention that they don't turn "off."
In section 4, I added the following statement... "NOTE: if you did the 275A edit in step 3g above, then unlike these next screen shots, your RDELEM button may still be green... This is normal. "

You will see EV or 1X, not both at the same time.
Auto B or Auto A can depend on your location and other things... Writing the QPST service programming should properly set this option...
If you want to double check the FEATURES setting you backed up with RSD CDMA general.... BUT DO NOT WRITE IT TO THE PHONE!!!!
I made a few tweaks to the write up per my last post plus the following...
I added using the restart button in 1.2 (RadioComm) instead of unplugging, trying to power off/on or even pull the battery...
at the end of section 1.3, i mention making note of the System select pref in the FEATURES file.. Toying with the idea of checking/confirming this value when checking for the menu option to verify the 2742 seem wrote... BUT I'm not sure how to work it exactly....
step 2 ends with "unplug, power off, back on..." and 3a also had that as first part of QPST.. so I took that out... redundant step
start of 3c now says... "Use RSDGen to write ONLY the following ONE AT A TIME...." and I'm toying with saying something like "the rest will not be restored" or such... or maybe in the back up section 1.3 saying... NOTE: Not all of the RSD CDMA GEN backups will be used for this process, but they are good to have "just in case..."
changed the part about checking for AutoA/B menu to actually say... ...Are Automatic A and Automatic B choices under Menu -> Settings....
added.... E2E Port: 9201 in proxy 2 of section 6.0 to get around the error of the "must be 4 or 5 characters" error from RSD...
and changed the part about the tethered nai at the end to say that it is needed after you do a *228...
added Offset 0001, bit 3 - checked to enabled: WAP Browser Ready to the MANDITORY 2742 seem edits.. as this will be needed to get the Web Browser Icon we you apply the updated MMA_UCP
Added section 3b1 to backup your MMA_UCP, then download/overwrite the modified one... the modified MMA_UCP along with the Offset 0001, Bit 3 seem edit will give you the web browser icon!!!

well as far as i can tell, the flash was completely succesful. all data works including gin, mms is working, i hav evdo service, and everthing is great. the only thing i can tell that is not working properlly is when i go to menu->settings->initial setup, nothing happens. i can not get into the initial setup menu. now the odd thing is, i was able to primarly when idid the master clear/reset, but now i cannot get in. any pointers? did i miss a seem edit or somthing?
again tahnks for everything, expecially mark for the guide. u the man!!

I'm betting you wrote your backup FEATURE Settings file with RSD CDMA General after you flashed to the USC firmware as that is the typical symptom of it...
If you did... I'm going ask.. WHY??? where in the guide did you see it tell you to restore/write the FEATURE settings with RSD Gen? (because i don't recall putting that in... and I should NOT be in there... so if it is.. I must remove it)....
Mark, let me be the first to say you are THE MAN! Your directions are excellent.
The only snags I hit were minor with RDD CDMA General, QPST and editing my Browser file.
All my computers with the exception of my work laptop had IE7, which also happened to be the only one that worked (others ran into provisioning errors).
One more hitch, it seems that I was only able to get to the DMU folder on one of my computers with QPST. The other one could connect but only give me access to the /Motorola/Shared folder. I think they key is to get it to QPST Configuration to recognize it as a USB/QC Data Modem - not USB/QC Diagnostic. It seems as though as long as you connect as a Data Modem, you'll have access to the root (/) directory as well as the /DMU directory. Once I did, I could dump the 10.key, no problem.
The last bump in the road was right at the end, which you detailed a couple of pages back in this thread. I was unable to enter port 80 in the Browser file under the Proxy 2 section. I just downloaded your file and changed the dummy phone number to my own, and I had no problems copying it - thanks.
One question - how much of a pain would it be to update my phone if I ever were to get my number changed? At some point in the future, would it be possible to create a quick guide for that process (or maybe - hopefully - you could post it right here, if there's not much to it)?

Wait... are you saying that since you're PC's had IE7.. RSD General didn't work on them.. so you went to your work laptop which does NOT have IE7.. and RSD worked? If so... know issue... and stated in required section, and on the RSD CDMA General link in required section.

The link to QPST in the REQUIRED SOFTWARE Section -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/QPSTSetup.htm says to "Uncheck the "Show Serial and USB/QC Diagnostic ports only" option" when adding port.. and "click the entry that says COMxx - QC/Data modem and click OK"
so the link in the required software section link covers that.
I'm redoing that section to be more like the "Monster2" requirements section.... maybe it will be more clear that you need to follow those links about setting the software up...

yeah, make the E2E port 9201 should fix (which was added to the guide) or use the Pre-edited Browser file.

Well, since I haven't switched numbers... and I can't switch numbers... I have no way to try... so I can't write anything up and be sure it works or not...
In theory... you should be able to just *228 opt 1 to "reprogram" the phone... then just double check the Phone number, MIN and MDN in the MMS, Broswer, and NAM1 settings in RSD CDMA Gen... and double check the NAI and Tethered NAI on the M.IP tab in QPST.

Yes, only my work computer, running IE6, would work. Whether IE7 was really the root cause, I don't know, but I remember you saying at the beginning of the guide that IE7 has been known to cause some problems with RSD, which is why I got the idea to give my work laptop a try. I didn't try to remove IE7 from any of my other computers.
Good to know about QPST. I probably should have read that a little closer.
First time flasher, as a friend gave me an old V3M she wasnt using. Excited to try. I have tracked down, but not installed most of the software required.
I did have one question though, which I havent seen answered anywhere else. Between this new US celluar and the older Alltel, which is the better choice? Which is the safer choice for a first time flasher. All I really want is the verizon interface off. I do text/send picture messages a fair bit, so keeping MMS is a plus.
Thanks, and sorry if this is posted somewhere else already.

WHOA there cowboy. Do you have a v3m or a v9m? This thread is about a v9m phone, not a v3m. V3m information can be found by going to either: http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Monster2.htm for Alltel
or http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Vivo_Monster1.htm for Vivo.
If you have a v9m, follow the directions they posted. US Cellular seems to be the better choice for the v9m, as of now that is. If you have a v3m, Vivo is the best choice (IMO).
