    I'm working on that...

Phonenews.com does have it.. BUT it looks like the web link is now broken... link on page points to xxx.ZIP.. but the file on his site is actually... xxx.RAR..

well, he does call it "Phone Encyclopedia BETA"

The one in the US Cellular Monster thread... is just called V9M.RAR... I'd rather point to one that is the full file name... so people know they have the right thing BEFORE they download...

I'll PM RY and Humpa a new RS link later..

For the hour I had it on there, what irked me was the fact that WMA files were recognized but could not play. The MP3 files that DID play didn't show album art.

    Can you try...

    1. rename the files to TEST.xxx (where xxx = the extension)
    2. make a folder on the root of the drive called V9M-Backup and put the files there and try...

if I should remove the vms file because it's just sitting around doing nothing, or the second mms file, which is a backup, let me know. I don't understand how those would be harming anything though. But I clearly am new at this.

The spare files shouldn't be a problem...

I'm really curious now... if I pm you my email address... can you email your files... at least the .BRW file..

also.. what version of RSD CDMA Gen?

    Mark,

I can definitely do that. I kinda feel bad putting you through this much trouble for something that is almost definitely just my idiocy costing me a phone. I probably won't be able to send the files until later on this evening though. I'm on my work computer right now, but I'm pretty sure it's RSD CDMA Gen 4.9.8, and I also tried, I think, at one point using 5.1.something.

Side question, if I've somehow botched all of this, but have a second v9m that I can put active on my account, would I be able to get the information I need off of that phone and on to the one I'm trying to flash?

Yes. The RSD CDMA general backups are "phone number" specific.. not "phone/ESN/MEID" sepcific...

So if you have another V9M with Verizon firmware that you can activate on your line, do the *228 opt 1 & opt 2... then make new backups.. they will work just fine...

I'll need to go over the files I have again... we might be able to come up with a "generic" set of RSD CDMA Gen files... that you just "edit' with your phone number/min/mdn and go... BUT I am not going to promise that... the BEST way is to use your own backups!!!

Whew... I won't have the other phone for a week or so, but it's good to know that worst comes to worst, I still haven't totally destroyed this phone!

Indeed; display shots of the USC firmware on the V9m and screenshots of the process on the PC would be helpful. The Mark V (V9m) seem edit page is awesome.

    Hey Mark,

I've got to admit that I'm completely new at flashing phones, but I followed your guide and was able to successfully flash to USC then back to Verizon then to Alltel.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the unlucky who only get one shot at the USC flash (so I guess I'll be waiting/hoping for a fix).... but I did want to say that your guide is excellent.

    Great work!

EDIT: If you know how to do these... the guide is ready.
Ok, all of that is done Except... I'm not going to add the pictures to the QPST EFS part.. I dont think its necessary... if People post that they want... I'll think about it...

There are some additional seem edits that KBMAN and I are discussing... they will NOT impact the ability to complete this proces, and can be done later... its just some extra things like enabling some menu options, along with the MMA_UCP..

NOW... as written... this guide is exactly what KBMAN and I did to get the phone working...

    SO consider the guide READY!!

I may add pre-edited BREW, ERI, Browser and MMS Setting (you would still have to edit the MMS and Browser for your phone number before writing) for those who have troubles backing up.. or editing theirs...
