I read through the Guide twice, and you guys did a great job!
I think what I'm going to do is wait until after the Voyager comes out, and if I buy and keep it, then I'll flash my V9m.
If I flash my V9m now and it bricks, then I have to go back to the Maxx.

So I spent a few hours following this guide as close to the letter as I could; and things look to be pretty good .

Although in the last step, I wasn't able to specify port 80 for my MMS service; as RSD CDMA General told me aggressively that 80 wasn't a high enough number. Not a big deal for me, as I don't use MMS messages often...but something I'd like to get sorted out sooner or later.

Thanks for the write up Mark, and KBMan...you guys rock!

That is an issue some have seen... change the port from 0 to 80 and that error comes up, and RSD wont write to phone...

Potential work around... change the E2E port on Proxy 2 to 9201, or 8080

Try using the Browser file I have linked in the guide... just open in RSD, change the "phone number" then write to phone...

its already configured with the standard Proxy 1 and Proxy 2 settings per the guide...

I added TWO optional seem edits...

Offset 003d, bit 1 - unchecked - Disable SMS Delivery confirmation (supposed to fix the added delivery message when replying to VZW users)

Offset 0090, bit 0 - check - enable Digital Mode selection menu for disabling EvDO in the Network menu , no need to go into Testmode to do it.

Hey Mark_V I know this a bit off topic but do you know/think the offset 90 seem edit you just posted would have any effect/work on the original Razr's? Curious if it's only a v9m seem edit or not.

Something else I want people to be aware of...

If you read they guide.. you may think... Hmm... after we flash... we go...

    QPST (3a & B)
    RSD General (3C)
    MSU/P2KCommander (3D)
    RSD General (3e)
    RadioComm (3f, 3g, 4)
    RSD General again... (6)

Why not re-order the steps to do all the RSD General stuff at one time? why not re-order the steps so that its something like...

    QPST (3a, 3b)
    MSU/P2KCommander (3d)
    Radiocomm (3f, 3g, 4)
    RSD General (3c, 3e, 6)

so you don't have to open/close and keep switching back and forth between the tools?

Hard to eplain typing it here... But lets just say.. to get some entries/settings to be correct and stay... a certain order is required when "putting them back" on the phone...

If someone wants to try with them in a different order... and verify the process works that way... Cool. Go for it.. BUT I expect you'll run into problems...

Thanks for all your hard work. I've been setting up the correct software and getting familiar with it, doing the backups, and going through the guide step-by-step. So far everything is working using the Parallels virtual machine on my MacBook Pro. I'm confident that I can read and write to and from the phone, my big concern is doing the actual flash. Many have warned against flashing on a virtual machine, some have done it successfully. I may wait until I upgrade to the new 10.5 operating system, which includes BootCamp and allows you to boot up in Windows.

A few notes about my experience following the guide:

    1) This probably means I screwed something up, I'm assuming: the button on the side of the phone where there's only one button appears not to do anything. I thought that it was supposed to still open the voice command dialog? Also, this is extra stupid, but I can't find the browser?

    2) My MIN and MDN didn't match, so after doing 3g I went to do 4. However the rdelem and stelem buttons were still highlighted. I went forward anyway, and it appears to have worked, but I think that maybe some clarification that things won't look the same in 4 as they did in 3g would be nice.

    3) in the step that says that you should now have "Auto A/B", I never got a setting called that. I decided that it meant that I should have Auto A and Auto B. This is probably wrong?

    4) in 6.0, where the screen shot said "Read only" mine said "read and write". in the second screen shot, I was unable to change the value to a 0, but as has been discussed, used one of the alternate 4 digit values.

edit: I just also noticed that in 3c, brew, eri, mms, and rtd are reinstalled, and later the browser, but that there's a handful of other settings that the guide doesn't specifically say to restore. Does this mean they were stupposed to be restored in 3c and I just didn't understand that?

Take a look at post #32 & 33 of this Thread. I think that should give you the answer to your question being it has been asked and answered.

    Mark, you're the man.

Question, in your guide you say to use the V9M Monster
    V9M_02.0B.09P_MONSTER_02.shx.
Shouldn't we be using the following newer version also
    found on the same sites?
    USC_V9M_02.0C.12P_PRInn13635_MONSTER_01.zip

As for QPST, I found QPST_2.7_b215.exe but not
the build 2.31 that you call out for. I also found
    QPST-2.7BUILD264.rar. Which should I use.

Use 2.7 build 264 which is the latest and it should work fine. That is the version I have been using.

As explained, we used the older firmware because we wanted to repeat our first attempt which was most successful prior to this last one. At that time we only had the first USC monster so that is what we used. We have to flash again to test whether everything works the same way on the newer firmware.

It should, but in order to limit the unknown variables we wrote it up exactly as we did it.

Or, I should say, Mark_V wrote it up. I have been too busy to do anything but collaborate on process details, which has left Mark_V to do the writeup without much help, so he gets the credit for that work, thanks!

Until the seem edit and the replacement MMA_UCP/MMA_DCP which will come later.... you will not have a web browser icon

Not sure if you mean because the first SCREEN SHOT of section 4... where it directs you to the STELEM/RDELEM section has all 0's filled in?? that is because I cheated and re-used the screen shot...

Correct.. should be Automatic A and Automatic B... You are looking for those...

    For Read/Write for screen shot 1/Proxy 1 or Screen Shot 2/proxy 2?

Correct changing the port value from 0 to 80 can cause that error saying the port must be 4 or 5 characters...

Using 9201 in the E2E port field can get past this...

OR use the "generic" browser file linked in that part of the write up....

Do NOT restore them unless directed...

the others are backed up... just in case...

    Mark,

For Proxy 1, I am pretty confident that mine said Read/Write. (Also, Proxy 2, but Proxy 2 says Read/Write in the screen shot, so I'm not worried about any bad effects there.)

On the STELEM/RDELEM front, I mean that after I did the first thing with those buttons, and went on to the second set of things using those buttons, they were still highlighted green from the first set of stuff I did, and I (being a new user of all this stuff) didn't know what was going on and got nervous. It all worked out in the end, but depending on how noob friendly you want your guide to be, if it's standard for those buttons to stay highlighted, you might want to just mention that they don't turn "off."

edit: A couple other ridiculously simple questions: the USC interface has the standard green reception bars, then the EV logo. Is there supposed to be any other thing for the 1x? ... Also, amongst all the Network Options, which am I supposed to go with? I'm currently on Auto B.

Thanks again for all the help!

    Anxiously awaiting browser

Sure, you can keep it for a while longer. After all, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few. Plus I want the FileLocs.htm, ringer specs, video formats, sounds, MPT issues, you know the FUN stuff as you say.

I am hoping that can be done by Thanksgiving, KB was telling me sooner, but in any regard you guys reall proved it was WORTH THE WAIT. Thanks so much for everything.
