yes I realize that, not as concerned about the bitpim as I am not being able to get rsd general installed on my computer. Unless some one can tell me another program to use. got this v9m just sitting there since I rather use my e815 then the verizon UI on the v9m.

Define neither worked? What happened when you select it?

Better yet... please type out exactly what you did, and what you see as the outcome.

Another question.... What step in -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/USC-V9M-Monster1.htm requires bitpim, other than the OPTIONAL statement about backing up the file system in section 1 which says... "This is not actually needed, but some like to do it, "just in case"....)"

I would really like to get my V9m flashed before I go on vacation next week
No. There is nothing other than RSD CDMA General to backup REW,
ERI, MMS Setting, RTT Data and Browser since PST doesn't work with the V9M.

If your laptop keeps placing it in the quarentine folder, than what you downloaded obviously has a virus. I suggest you seek another copy to download.

I plug my V9m in using USB port, start bitpim program. I click the find phone button, it says no phone detected run setting? (print screen below)

I click yes choose other CDMA phone, as well as selecting USB modem in availbe ports (see print screen)

Then I select OK, Click find phone button again with the same results.

I understand this is only optional but since it my first time flashing I would have like to understand the file system, not so concerned any more about it just want the phone flashed already.

only verison of rsd I was ever able to get to load on laptop was 3.7.1 which is far to old.

thanks you for all your help

^^Under settings in BitPim uncheck the Autodetect at startup box, seeing as you are manually setting the phone and com port. Also don't click the find phone box after having your phone set. Go to view and select "filesystem" which will add and icon to the left column right above "Log" click that and you should get another center column on the screen with a folder shown. double click that folder and it should then read the filesystem of the phone

Not to "nit pick" I'll point you back to...

because no where on my pages does it say hit "FIND PHONE"...

V9M page -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V9M.htm (use item #7 for bitpim) takes you to the main moto bitpim page... -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_BitPim.htm which says...
NOTE: BitPim doesn't natively support the KRZR K1M, Maxx Ve, Razr2 V9M, Z6tv, Z6C, Slvr L7C, V325, V276, V265 or other CDMA Moto phones. These phones do not appear compatible with the configurations used by the other Moto's, therefore they can only be used as "OTHER CDMA PHONE", which means phone auto-detection does not work, no GUI support, and only limited use of the file system feature.
It further tells you auto-detection works only for natively supported phones and lists them.

Under the Autodetection section it states if the phone isn't natively supported or atuodetection doesn't work, how to manually configure bitpim... which does NOT mention hittnig Detect Phone.

I am bringing this up as a caution to you because... this tells me you didn't read close enough OR you could not follow what you read... this is important as it indicates you might encounter issues during the flash process, and therefore might consider not doing it.

Well guess I was looking to far into things and over read what was written, thanks every one for the help. If I ever get rsd general working I will be sure to read more carefully, I have done all the back up until rsd general is needed and did not have any problems.

I am running McAfee epolicy orchestrator agent 3.6.0.574,

EDIT well I called my It dept, they were not open to the idea of disabling the protection to let me install this program. Now in search for a friend computer I can use to try this.

I know your source also as Mark_V posted. I was just asked via googletalk to test out the exact same file and can say on my work desktop running AVG anitvirus no issues. They were heading out the door and asked if I'd post the findings and it installs fine and reads the phone fine just as an FYI.

What I can say is it sounds like a McAfee issue. If I'm not mistaken a friend of mine had nothing but trouble and they had McAfee also at the time.

I just realized last night that movie trailers, like Yahoo Movies continue to play after you close the outer flip.

Is there a way to change the default video player to work like that?

Lets see it in action. Record the video with your maxx and upload it to youtube.
Not that I don't trust you, I just want to see how it looks.

Of course you trust me Omie. Buy my Maxx is back to the 15 second timeout after the MSU, and the quality of the closeups is horrible. These pics taken with the Maxx may be helpful, though.

Sorry for the image sizes. I'll try to edit them down later. I wish I had that screenshot capture program that Goldie uses.
