That doesn't seem to be completely correct, I know I can use a 2GB card in the Verizon V3m or Verizon E815 because I've done so.
I agree you can put a 2Gb card in it and it will read it but have you ever tried putting 2 GB of data on it and have it work right. Odds are it will not as I tested it ages ago myself and once you get past about 1.5Gb it starts acting all weird. The reality is the device itself only supports a 1Gb card. Same thing VZW & Moto will tell you.
Many devices will accept a bigger card but that does not mean it is supported or will work correctly. As an example I've put a 16Gb card in my Krave and did not have an issue but I never had more the 8Gb of stuff on it tho and per the details of the phone it only takes up to 8Gb.
Unless I am mistaken, card supoport is coded in the firmware itself and there are no configuration files that contain those parameters to be transfered.

Has anyone been able to use free Wap with the US Cellular firmware? I have tried to use hotproxy and free wap proxies, but I still get the dial *611 message.
I went over everything in great detail...all looks right. The only problem I did have was when backing up my mms I got the .vms instead of .mms in RSD Gerneral. I had to use the generic mms file to restore the backup. Do you think this might be an issue.

It for sure would be if you just wrote the generic MMS back to it without editing it. when using that file you need to manually edit some info so it shows all the VZW settings.
Edit: I found the link to my post that shows the detaisl as to how the MMS screen needs to be setup after reading if via RSD General once flashed to USCC. so just read the MMS file you have now and edit it as it states in this link. If everything else is correct on your device this should do the trick. good luck
I flashed my v9m to the USC firmware and I ran into a problem. I believe I followed the steps exactly as written, but not, I cannot write a text message on my phone. When I create a new message, it won't let me enter any text, and in the top right it says "SMS:0".
What did I do wrong/what do i need to fix?
I've searched the forums for a while and haven't found anything, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
-EDIT-
After more experimentation, I've noticed that text messaging works fine after I flash. I checked it at every step, and it worked fine, UNTIL I wrote the MMS file to the phone with RSD CDMA. After this, I couldn't write any texts. I used the generic MMS file that Mark V provided, and edited the vaules according to the instructions.
I also notice that in RSD CDMA, under MMS settings:
New MM Retrieval is set to automatic, and below that it says "Max Message Size(bytes)" and this is set to 0 and grayed out so I can't change it at all

Here is what I have done on all my razr flashes is instead of using any 'generic' .mms files (since they always get saved with a .vms extension). At that point of the process I will just have RSD Gen read the .mms file from my phone and edit that one, instead of reading one of the other posted files and editing those. I have better luck that way since sometimes I may be using a different version of RSD than the guide or others have used. When you do so, enter these values from Aix's post here:
making sure that the values for 'Album Upload Address' are set to your 10digit#@pix.vtext.com properly, 'UAPROFURL' says "profile: http://uaprof.vtext.com/mot/v9m/v9mv1.xml", 'User Agent' says "user-agent: motov9m", and 'HTTP HEADER' says "x-vzw-mdn:"
I have recently acquired a Verizon v9m phone, I switched it to run on my carrier which is ntelos with it still having the Verizon firmware on it. I now want to switch the firmware on it to something different to get rid of the verizon junk. However, one of the first steps in the guide is to do *228 , which is not supported by ntelos, and it says that you must do this or else it will not work.
Now already the phones internet and picture messaging does not work when I switched it over, I am OK with this, I also dont care about text messaging either, do not use it, do not care to use it. Am I OK to 'skip' the *228 steps?
My ultimate goal is to be able to have a phone that can run java, And in reading the bell firmware can do this, but got to go to USC first then to Bell, is this correct?
Also sorry if this is in wrong forum, but I figure with it having the verizon firmware on it, I'd assume I'd ask in the verizon forums.

Yes you can skip that step, but if you want Java, look for putting the Telus upgrade on it instead, it seems to work better. I would go inot more detail, but I've gotta go to work now.
Ok, ultimate was bell, but your saying Telus was better? Do I have to do the USC firmware first (I read somewhere that going from the verizon straight to bell was bad).
Also, I started doing these steps, well, the backup portion atleast, and with the QPST part where you read from the phone, everything comes back blank except for the IP section, the NAS etc... are all blank, is that normal?

Simple fix, send me the phone!
I'd really like to find a good VZW V9M, where did you get yours?
